What a great show to start off the Spring tour! If last fall was any indication that Robin Sylvester had found his rightful place as the bassist for this band, he sure showed it on this night. Big River and Schoolgirl featured newer arrangements that kept these classic songs still sounding fresh. Dark Star employed some new vocal phrasing by Bobby which really caught me offguard. The band must have been working on some new tunes during their break between tours, as Althea and Ripple were played for the first time. What a great encore Ripple was! The Weight featured Bobby forgetting the third verse which led the band and the crowd to erupt in a fit of laughter. The highlight for me was the instrumental jam that took place between Ashes and Dark Star. I'm definitely going to be at the show next week in L.A.
