Re: 44th Anniv of Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash

I grew up just 60 miles north of JAX, up US-1. I guess it means I was 15. At night, the AM radio on my stereo picked up a Nashville station, and I'll never forget hearing the news. Terrible. Sad to me what the survivors of Lynyrd Skynyrd have devolved into. Yes, they were proud of their Southern her...

Re: Red rocks 10-20-21

It was a pretty fine nights worth of music. Jay did a great job sitting in for Bill. The fun he was having on the Beast was infectious as all hell. JM is fun to watch as well as he digs in and has fun with the music. Pretty damn lucky we are to see everyone enjoying the birth of a new Band. Seems l...

Re: Red rocks 10-20-21

The first night was VERY cold - 34 degrees at setbreak. Band struggled a) to stay warm and b) to deal with the effects of staying warm (not only heavy clothes, but fumes from the stage heaters had Jeff, John and Mickey feeling sick throughout). Oteil's back is a real issue, and I'm sure the cold did...

Re: Red Rocks, CO 10-19-21

Has Bill ever missed a show before? Nope, that was a first. Mickey left early in Dew - and there was some kind of crack/pop over near him as the song began. Something failed or disconnected or something. Show was really good. I expected Jay to shine and he did. What a great guy! I do think he stepp...

Re: Stones Hollywood FL 11/23

I saw the Stones on 10/26/81 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. 4665 capacity. Saw two GD shows there as well (should have been three, but...long story). Tickets for the 1981 Stones show went onsale at midnight the box office and at a single record store. It was announced at 8:00 p.m., just four hours p...

Re: Did you used to watch Mork and Mindy?

Is that true?.....how Robin found out about the passing of John Belushi Dunno, but the part about him being with Belushi that night is. Robin did see John that night, stopping over his house after the club he was at closed, but i don't think Robin stayed long. If i remember correctly John and the w...

Re: John Perry Barlow.............

If you haven't already, read Mother American Night, Barlow's autobiography. Amazing person. I met him several times in the 90s when the EFF was at its height. Also stood with him for a few songs at McNichols in Denver once. Engaging, curious, intelligent and genuinely grateful guy.

Re: Wow ! Check this out (Janis)

This is Sherrie "Voxx" Johnson, with Seattle-based Janis Lives tribute band.

I saw Jen Durkin sing Another Piece of My Heart with the Rhythm Devils in 2008, and she was great.

The older I get, the more I absolutely love Janis.

Re: RIP John Prine

Similar to CaseyJonesEd's story, I took my wife to see John Prine at Red Rocks a few years ago. Emmylou opened. First off, that's a MASSIVE double bill. My wife had never heard either artist - or maybe I should say, had never *listened* to either artist. We head second row DFC seats. She cried all t...

Re: Rest in Peace Judd Golden

I agree wholeheartedly with Sugar's wise words...WITH a caveat. It is imperative that we practice compassion and forgiveness in this and all other situations. However, the woman acted with complete and total disregard for another's life, and for this, she must be given much time in an environment wh...

Re: Rest in Peace Judd Golden

I heard this sad news this morning. Judd was an incredible human being - for 20 years he led the Colorado chapter of the ACLU. He was instrumental in Colorado's decriminalization and ultimate legalization of cannabis. Judd LOVED people, and when he mixed friends and music, his bliss just radiated be...
