Re: Lowell
Lowell and that Little Feat lineup was a force of nature on stage. Solid bottom end with the piano and slide floating above.Jack O. Hartz wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 12:41 pmThere's not a lot of dead musicians that I really miss, but Lowell is definitely one of those.

Re: Dave's Picks #50 Pre Sale
Best run of Dead shows I saw Thankfully I had picked up tickets for all five nights in NYC during the first leg of the tour as the Academy of Music shows turned out to be a tough ticket. There was the 72 run and then the two nights in 76 at the Beacon but there was some serious pent up demand in the...

Sorry to read this. Besides the Dead - I’m sure I saw the ABB more than any other band. Along with Gregg - he was the voice of the South.

Re: Robin Trower U.S. 2024
It really was a good show! I remember being just mired down in traffic and being the only one in the car that cared about seeing Trower, I hopped out and boogied down the road, thru the lots and into the stadium just as Trower was coming on. My friends showed up at our seats much later. Setlists.com...

Dude could play. Loved his both his albums in the 70s Bridge of Sighs and For Earth Below. They got a lot of spins on turntables Saw him only once as the opening act for Jethro Tull at Shea Stadium on 7/23/76. Excellent show from my rememories! So my deadhead friends’ Dad was a CIA agent in the day and he told us that there was a file on each one of us in the 80-90s when we traveled so much to follow the band so I imagine most of you had files as well…kind of creepy Was in a house in NJ that got hit with an FBI warrant in the fall of 81 j...

And another oops for me - I miswrote - it wasn’t Drew but those concerts were just down the road a half mile at Fairleigh Dickinson University. A third college on the same road was St. Elizabeth

Re: In today's Robert Hunter news
Jack - you may remember that Drew University used to have free concerts at the end of the year. Some good bands like Poco, Renassiance, Ginderswitch, NRPS and the Good Rats. Hunter opened one year and the small crowd really wasn’t into it. But a few of us were and he walked over after his set and sa...

Was a much better festival back when it was free in Candler Park
My favorite music weekend each year until they moved it to Centennial Park
Billy, Mickey, etc. was a more low key jam band festi back then.

Re: You and I travel to the beat of a different drum
Oh A few years back we were in Atlanta having lunch with a friend and we were talking about Dead shows. I never thought of asking before but I turned to my wife and asked her how many Dead shows she saw with me? She instantly blurted out “too many!” Claims it was all we did back then. Memory can be ...

Never cared what my family thought ever since my older sister came in the house in like 69 or 70 at like 6 in the morning from a show at the Fillmore East. My folks were in an uproar and she turns to them at her bedroom door and proclaims Shut up I’m tripping Leave me alone And goddamn if they didn’...
