Avery had a procedure bumped up to this past Sunday; not open heart but rather a stent placement in her stenosed vein via catheter. So far she is recovering well. Big meeting with cardiology team on Thurs. to gameplan her course of treatment.

Hi All,

Three weeks since last update. In the time since, we unfortunately learned that Avery suffered a severe stroke while on life support coming out of her first procedure on 4/2. Around 4/4 is when neurology estimates the event occurred. We didn't know about any symptoms of the stroke until she emerged from life support around 4/10. In the time since, Avery's personality has come back nearly fully. Physically, her entire left side (arm/leg) has lost most function.

Now we focus on intense therapy for her. She is still at Hopkins and each day we try to take a step forward. It's like starting at square one with her in terms of crawling/walking. Very difficult. Our hope is that her young brain will develop and compensate for the affects of the stroke and that she'll regain all that she's (temporarily?) lost.

All of this on top of her pulmonary condition which will need to be surgically addressed within this year.

I know this update is long, but it's where we are at today.
