Things keep getting worse and worse. I can't help but feel infuriated with the citizens of my country. I pray the peak of this is reached soon.

I watched ‘Contagion’ the other night….just to get into the worst case scenario. We’re doing fine….just fine.

I've been curious to hear about any breakouts with fans touring with Phish. Starting their tour in Arkansas and Alabama had "super-spreader events" written all over it.

Surprisingly the Lollapalooza concert in Chicago apparently did not generate a large number of COVID cases. I read something like 20 or 200 cases out of 400,000 attendees. I’m curious what happens with Sturgis this year.

Phantasy tour has a few threads on phans and covid. It’s a very small number of people who’ve gotten sick….and a decent number of phans who’ve actually gone and gotten a test.

Just restarted taking Quercetin daily along with a bit of green tea each day to boost the immune system. Quercetin supposedly helps the maximize the effects of Zinc.

Mississippi is out of ICU beds and almost out of hospital beds entirely. They're scrambling to build field hospitals. Louisiana isn't far behind. If you're in a car accident or have another medical emergency, good luck to you in terms of getting care. Many hospitals are already diverting ER traffic. New Orleans being the largest city in the region means a whole lot of folks from outside of town are being brought to hospitals here.

It's driven by two things:

1) Unvaccinated population - massive percent of folks, state-wide in both states, haven't gotten the jabs. There are specific places that are doing well in that regard, such as Orleans Parish. But overall, it's pretty abysmal. Now, as we've all found out, the vaxxed can still spread it. But that's not what's crippling the healthcare system. % of vaxxed vs unvaxxed in the hospital is fewer than 2% vaxxed to more than 98% unvaxxed.

2) The season - the summer is when folks down here spend more time indoors. I know it's been unusually hot all over the country, so that's certainly not the sole reason spread here is worse than other places. But it plays a role. What I'm guessing we'll likely see, nation-wide, is the colder locales start to see more of a spike as it gets into the fall and people start going back indoors more and the cases here level off/decline as people get back outdoors more (and as it's burned through a whole lot of the population.

New Orleans has instituted a vaccine or negative requirement test for many indoor activities: restaurants/bars, casino, sporting events, live music venues, gyms, and another dozen or so other non-essential venues.

Fall festival season has been almost entirely cancelled. French Quarter Festival followed shortly behind Jazzfest and some others have also pulled the plug.

Masks for schools are a massive point of contention throughout Louisiana, as they are in some other states in the region. Our governor is in favor. Some of the Parish presidents and school boards, and a lot of parents in particular, are against it. Schools in Orleans Parish just re-opened and there are already over 3,000 students/staff in quarantine because of possible exposure. As of yesterday, there are 299 active cases they're tracking among students/staff. That's up from 116 a week ago (with 638 in quarantine a week ago vs the over 3,000 now).

So.....it's bad.

Thanks Chez. I read that NOLA started requiring proof for certain activities.

In Mississippi I read there is a man that had to go on a ventilator because of Covid. When the doctor explained to his wife if he took the jab he probably wouldn't be there she dismissed the thought and said someone is paying you to say that.

PEOPLE ARE FUCKING DUMB.

Do you need to show the actual Vaccination Record (little folded card thing showing the Vax dates) or will they accept a cell phone picture of the card? Anyone know?

This is what I received from TM:

BEFORE YOU GO: We would like to remind you that for the safety of everyone, you are required to show proof of your completed COVID-19 vaccination in order to receive a GA Pit wristband (except where prohibited by law). Full vaccination entails having received the 2nd Moderna, Pfizer, or AstraZeneca shot, or the single Johnson & Johnson shot at least 14 days prior to show-date. There are no exceptions to this policy. Upon purchasing your ticket from Ticketmaster, there was a pop-up disclaimer detailing this policy, and it reads as follows...

POLICY:
For all dates on Dead & Company's 2021 Tour, proof of COVID-19 Vaccination will be required by the event organizer to gain entry to the GA Pit (except where prohibited by law). Please keep this in mind before purchasing GA Pit tickets. If a GA Pit ticket holder does not have documentation, they will be provided an alternate viewing location. There are no exceptions to this policy.

COMMUNICATING YOUR VACCINE STATUS:
To make this process as easy, safe, and secure for all, Dead & Company has partnered with Bindle, a secure smartphone-based wallet for your health records, and an easy way to privately share your COVID health status with others. If this method sounds right for you, please follow the information detailed below to get your Bindle app set up in just a few minutes. The best part about this method is you can leave your paper vaccination card safe at home while you enjoy the show!

Another way to provide proof of vaccination is by simply showing your COVID-19 Vaccination Card along with a corresponding photo I.D.

Please note: Venue staff verifying your vaccination status will never collect or share this information.

CLICK HERE: TO SET YOUR BINDLE APP.
