If you don't count the rock concert in my high school gym by Max Webster.

Then Styx at the CNE. Had good seats and got super stoned. Good times!!!

This is the setlist: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/styx/197 ... 7db5b.html
If I recall correctly they (max webster) were playing at either my first show I mentioned earlier on thread or one later that year. I was not familiar with them but they reminded me of Rush…

They were very close friends with Rush. Even recorded a song together ... Battlescar. Max was the opening act for several Rush tours in the 70s and early 80s. Kim Mitchell was the singer and lead guitar. He is pretty talented, even today.

Max Webster played all the big high schools here in Southern Ontario and elsewhere across Canada. So they had a big following up here. You can hear them name checked on Trailer Park Boys episodes. They were kind of a prog rock, geek rock. Their music doesn't really hold up over time except for a few songs.

They were true Showman and what a show / Carl Palmer still most amazing drummer I've seen. Remember the review in the Wash Post the next day Title something like ELP played with enough energy to Power the DC area. Hoedown Emerson was shooting pyros over the crowd. Great stuff.

So I saw your ELP post above and it jarred my memory so I went googling around for a few minutes as I only saw them once and it was around that time.

I saw the 2/7/78 show at the Princeton University gym and thought they were fantastic - the 3 of them delivered an avalanche of sound. Palmer was indeed a beast behind the kit

Grate first concert!

1st was probably the 'new' Grand Ole Opry with my parents. Remember seeing Dolly standing in the back of the audience after she performed & how tiny her waist is. Also toured the Ryman which was not doing shows at that time if my childhood memory is correct.

Bon Jovi and Cinderella, Spectrum 85 or 86. Went to school with Jeff Labar’s little sister, he played lead guitar for Cinderella. A whole bunch of us went to support the local guy who made it big even though we were too cool for hairbands. All in all it wasn’t all that bad. Both bands rocked and there were TONS of beautiful girls to mingle with
