Jazzmaster DJ Phil Schaap RIP

Post by DZwEtrnity » Thu Sep 09, 2021 1:26 pm

Hey now its with heavy heart here in NYC to hear of the passing of Phil Schaap, 89.90 fm NY wkcr.

A kind head with a encyclopedic knowledge of music with a strong conviction of love and understanding of music is necessary for the young generation.

I once took his jazz class 2 at Columbus circle nyc and I told him of all the GD shows I went and how we all still tape and archive and he totally dug it and knew everything about it. He compared me to the hard cores who taped Charlie Parker and all the others on the scene. He was so cool and told me about his GD adventures back in the 70's and all the times he saw Jerry. It was awesome and I will never forget that stuff.

So check it out, great streaming all the time on www.wkcr.org, Superkindbud wake n bake Saturday mornings Reggae 9-12, no bs commercials and stuff that you won't hear on the radio because it's all vinyl. 🙂

Phil's smoking a phatty with Jerry.
