RIP Betty Lynn aka Thelma Lou

Post by caseyjonesed » Mon Oct 18, 2021 4:03 pm

I grew up in NC so I took special interest in this place called Mayberry and folks
like Andy, Barney and Thelma Lou. So this news is particularly sad though full
of good memories and laughs.

Thanks Betty Lynn! :clap :clap :clap

RIP Betty Lynn.
Inspiration move me brightly / Light my heart with sense and color /
Hold away despair / More than this I will not ask / Faced with mysteries dark and vast.............

i still will watch an occasional Andy Griffith. It's one of the few tv shows i do watch.

I think that leaves just Ron Howard and the woman who played Ellie Walker as the only cast members from the B&Ws that are still with us.

it was Gomer.

Another cool episode with Thelma Lou and Gomer was when her cousin came into town the week of the "big dance". The girls wouldn't go with Andy and Barney unless they found a date for Thelma's cousin. They got Gomer.

The men show up at the house, to go to the dance, and after a few minutes Gomer stands up says "excuse me" and bolts. The rest go to the dance but Thelma Lou is really pissed and is giving Barney a lot of shit for it. If i remember correctly she even punches Barney in the eye. Anyway while they were at the dance (having a bad time), Gomer resurfaces at Thelma Lou's house with a corsage. He explains that he saw the other girls had one and he didn't have one for Thelma Lou's cousin and he didn't feel right. The rest of the crew show up, after leaving the dance early, only to find Gomer and the cousin rockin and dancin the house down !!

Truthfully.. even as a child it bothered me that Barney pulled Thelma Lou. She was miles out of his league
