Bill Kreutzmann

Post by hockeygame3 » Fri Oct 22, 2021 6:23 pm

Our brother Bill Kreutzmann continues to be on the mend from a non-Covid related illness and will be back with us in Phoenix. In the meantime, Jay Lane will sit in again at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre tonight and tomorrow so the show can go on.

Altitude is great......unless you're not used to it! Here's to hoping Bobby will at least keep playing Red Rocks!

Bill is used to walking around the beach in Hawaii in flip flops and playing under palm trees! The Colorado cold and altitude is not doing him any good.
Stay healthy Mr. Billy K and we’ll see you in much warmer Phoenix!

If they match at all on a 401K, Jay should get on that. Get well soon Billy!

The incredible joy on Jay's face last night was very moving for me. I have been in a state of "I don't know how to feel" about Bill the Drummer. Psyched Jay is around but wasn't sure how to feel. Last night I watched the stream and during Drums, Jay was so visibly happy and animated, it made me happy and almost relieved. I look forward to some more years with the original Devils, and I can see how their influence and love light shines bright!

As a band...and especially for Weir...it must feel great knowing you’ve got someone like Jay to call super last minute and know that you have a competent and capable player ready to step in at a moment’s notice.
Hooray for Jay!!

That would have never been possible back in the day

The show or shows would just be canceled

I was at a show in the 90s in Orlando that was cancelled because Bill had to fly home to be with his father. Never understood why Mickey didn’t go solo that evening.

Mickey is an amazing percussionist - but he needs a pocket drummer with him.

This was the first time in my entire career that I ever had to call in sick, but sometimes you just have to give yourself a time out. I’m pleased to report that the doctors have cleared me to return to the road and continue doing what I love the most - playing music for all of you - for a long time to come. See you all in Phoenix!
With love, Billy

I guess we can forgive Billy for not remembering the two times he called in sick in late 68.

He's afraid his bandmates might begin to worry this is becoming a habit.

Has anyone heard anything about what happened with Jay taking over for Billy last night?

I’m concerned for Billy’s health
The band had to know something was up with Bill
You don’t just conjure up Jay out of thin air to fill in for him
There was a camera angle from Billy’s left side
I noticed Bill had bulging vein in his neck

I sure hope he’s okay
