Nothing beats the early help slipknots franklins

Honorable mentions are 4/17/1983 Brendan Byrne (very very good)
or the Garden 10/12/1983 (night after st stephen breakout)

Listening to the 3/11/93 one now
A lot of keys and effects but still good
I prefer the more Jerry guitar based and not so much organ much tighter arrangements
To me they lost a lot by letting Brent take over a commanding role. Jerry either was too high or tired
The trio really grooves in the early versions
try 06-10-1976 Boston Music Hall to feel the difference
Later arrangements just were too fast and sacrificed way to much for the Brent overplaying style compare to the silky piano of Keith
Notice how beautiful the song was with Donna's smooth vocals versus Brent' Michael McDonald imitations
Also cow bell and drums much more prominent

also a good read on the subject

i'm enjoying this show. the recording came together a good bit. jerry is engaged so far, hopefully he keeps his nose clean at setbreak. bobby played some dirty slide. vince really is the weakest link at this point

Oh yeah I know
The vince/ hornsby years brought a whole different dynamic to the mix
Vince wasn't with them long enough to find where he fit and unfortunately the band was fractured too much during those years to ever settle in a groove
The post brent years were an eclectic mix never knew what you were going to get musically from the band
I was only pointing out how Brent had changed the song and many many others to be more his vocals and his playing very high in the arrangements
Kinda lookin at the whole evolution or devolution of Help/Slip/Franklins

I should add I really dug Vince bring something totally different to the band (some good ,some not so good) but at least interesting to listen to as you pointed out with the 3/11/93 show

I was there

Chicagoan Ken Nordine of Word Jazz made the show even more special

Great shows…enjoyed them. 1993 doesn’t disappoint.

Relisten has a great Miller board so it will really get you “ back in the vibe” of yesteryear !
