10/1/94 Boston Garden...30 years ago

Post by Glen from CT » Tue Oct 01, 2024 4:22 pm

one of my favorite shows that i attended and probably the last great Grateful Dead show. released as the 1994 show in the 30 Trips box set is a smoker from start to finish with my all time favorite versions of Althea, Tom Thumb's Blues and So Many Roads. SMR is the best they ever played in my opinion and Jerry shouting out Blue at the end of Stella Blue always gets me in the feels. i took my older brother (who first saw shows in the 70's but hadn't seen them in years) and his wife to this show and he was blown away by both the playing and song selection. watching/listening this year is a little sad as he passed away from cancer this past June. RIP Todd.

Set 1
Help On The Way-> Slipknot!-> Franklin's Tower, Walkin' Blues, Althea, Me & My Uncle*-> Big River*, Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, So Many Roads, Promised Land

Set 2
Scarlet Begonias-> Fire On The Mountain, Way To Go Home, Saint of Circumstance-> Terrapin Station-> Drums-> Space-> The Last Time-> Stella Blue-> One More Saturday Night E: Liberty

Sorry to hear about your brother Glen. I was at this one too as well as my last show on 10/3 with my kid brother. Both shows were great. The SMR on 10/1 was really good as well as Bobby on acoustic on the Cowboy songs :listen

I was there. Always a good sign when Help>Slip>Frank opens the show.

Those Garden shows were so rocking
The stairs were steep and oh so little when climbing to seats up high
It was tricky maneuvering
Glad you enjoyed shows w your brother
My sister is a head and now one of her kids is as well
It’s always fun w family
Fuck Cancer my sister just got over treatments ,I am very sorry you had to endure it w your loved one and lose him that sucks
How lucky for you that he was a cool bro and you could share being dead heads with him, that’s rare
So many roads to soothe my soul!
xoxo

Be sure to listen to RFK 95 closely before declaring any 94 show the "last great Grateful Dead show."

Also, Charlotte 3.23.95

Agree. The second night at RFK was especially strong. Also, 10/10/94 at Cap Centre was a great show.
