Fuck. Just learned about highway terror & happened to see this thread ... couldn't believe it! Never met chester in person, but clearly one of those people you get a good sense of their heart over the internet. My condolences to Bruce's family and friends.

Bruce was a great friend of mine in college back in the 80's along with so many other friends he had. Truly one of the most loved guys there was. It was so great to see him again on this forum.

His Nickname to his friends back then was Cheeseman.

RIP Bruce. ](*,)

I only met Chester(Bruce) a couple of times but he always had a kind and helpful word for anyone who needed it. He will be missed...

My heart is breaking. He was such an nice person. For the last six or so years I've traveled solo to shows, and while that's awesome for its own reasons it can be rather lonely at times... we were always chatting on the board and he was always super sweet.... but before the Berkeley Furthur shows he welcomed me into a .org gathering and I didn't really know anyone so I was hesitant (my nature) .... he stayed close to me while I made the rounds and put faces to names and made sure I was always having a nice time ... a gentle sweet man with kindness coming out of every angle of him. Ima miss you Bruce.... like, more than you can know... Rest easy brother.

He was so kind to me over the years. I keep a seashell he gave me on our coffee table, look at it often. I am very sad. RIP Bruce

Awaiting news of a service. Hoping to gather with some who can make it.

Just a couple of updates. Still no specifics on the family's plans for a service, but there is supposed to be one in Rochester. I'll post anything I find out.

Earlier today, I talked to the sheriff that found Bruce. He said it appears to have been a quick, massive heart attack. For me that's some consolation, at least he wasn't unable to move and waiting for help for any period of time, which was the scenario scaring me all weekend. Ironically, after years of no medical care, he had just signed up for health insurance, starting January 1st. Please get your check-ups regularly, folks!!

Lastly, Chester's African gray parrot, Shelby, is alive and well and being cared for by the Monroe County humane society. I'm working on finding out about adoption protocols and what permissions we need from the family. If you are interested in adopting a beautiful, well-behaved parrot, and can get to Rochester, NY to retrieve her, please send me a PM.

I know Bruce would have appreciated each and everyone of these heartfelt thoughts from the wonderful people here!!

damn that is terrible. seen this in the morning quick but couldn't post. One of the coolest dudes I ever met, split a room for shows on several occasions. Would of never even considered Mexico if it wasn't for him. Way to sad.

RIP Bruce
