RIP John Prine
Re: RIP John Prine
This was a gut punch though not a surprise after how long he’s been in ICU. great to see all of the tributes to him last night and today. Jeff Tweedy did a couple of his songs on his show last night, he was near tears. Saw him dozens of times over the years, an old photographer friend posted a bunch of pictures of some shows I didn’t even remember until I saw the pics. Him and Danko singing together, great times.
Thanks for seeing me through good and bad times John. Having a vodka and ginger ale right now!

Tearing up once again scrolling through the tributes that other musicians are sharing. Truly an American Treasure whose songs will thankfully live on forever.

I’d love to know what those two were up to. Could potentially be amazing. Bobby’s recent versions of Angel From Montgomery were a treat.

So sad! one of my all time lifelong favorite artists! I was hoping that he and Bob would do an album together.

Similar to CaseyJonesEd's story, I took my wife to see John Prine at Red Rocks a few years ago. Emmylou opened. First off, that's a MASSIVE double bill. My wife had never heard either artist - or maybe I should say, had never *listened* to either artist. We head second row DFC seats. She cried all the way through Emmylou's set and laughed and cried through Prine's. I'll never forget that.
Also saw him at RR with Levon Helm Band (WOW!) and with Kacey Musgraves, where he sat in on "I Want to Burn One With John Prine."
Finally, this is the tribute that surprised me the most, Roger Waters doing Paradise...

What a great story! How sweet that it’s yours to share. That you credit John Prine with helping pave the path to your happy ending. Allthe while, I’m sure you know that it was you that did all the work. No doubt a sweet soundtrack makes the work a little easier. John Prine has been on the stereo since I was a kid. My best friend sang all of his tunes. Grateful for how beautifully he colours the backdrop of my fondest memories.caseyjonesed wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 9:52 pmThank you John Prine. Never met you, but you changed my life.
I got sober on 1/9/2004. don't congratulate me. I quit cause I was scared to die. And
for some reason a miracle.Next thing you know I get a job! In Ames, Iowa. I'm in fucking
Ames sober and everything is like fresh dew on the lawn. New. alive.
And who is coming to town? John Prine. I ask my temporary sponsor if he wants to go
and there I am enjoying life again. John Prine has given me the opportunity to know
I can go to a show sober. What a concept! Actually saw Jorma & Jack a month
after I got sober. I knew I wouldn't make it if I couldn't not get fucked up at shows.
Had to walk into the Lions Den and out again.
Took me 5 years to fall in love. Literally at first sight. Shanny. Like coming to an oasis
after wandering in the desert. I was creating and editing and writing
www.GreenEarthLive.com and I had the idea to go to Atlanta's Chastain Park to see
John Prine and write about 'Paradise'. Shanny and I got passes and good seats and had
a trip for the ages. I knew we would be married after that trip to see John Prine.
so I thank you John Prine. you changed my destiny to a course of happiness.
may you rest and peace.
