:-k :-k
I couldn't really figure out what happened to him
It must be a shoulder or maybe a broken clavicle
he got crunched but in the moment it didn't seem to phase him

Fentanyl, cocaine contributed to death of former NHLer Jimmy Hayes

Former NHL forward Jimmy Hayes, who passed away at age 31 in August, had fentanyl and cocaine in his system at the time of his death, family members told the Boston Globe.

Hayes had a seven-year NHL career with the Chicago Blackhawks, Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils. His brother, Kevin Hayes, currently plays for the Philadelphia Flyers.

A Boston area native, Jimmy Hayes also won an NCAA hockey championship with Boston College in 2010.

He was pronounced dead at his home in Milton, Mass., on Aug. 23. A cause of death was not available at that time, but Hayes' family recently received the toxicology report.

His family remembered Jimmy as a young husband and father who always looked to do good deeds for others.

Jimmy Hayes, former NHL player and NCAA star, dies at 31
"I hope getting Jimmy's story out there can save someone's life. If this can save someone from the pain, great," Kevin Hayes, Jimmy's father, told the Globe. "It's just so sad. I pride myself on being pretty mentally strong. I'm a street guy. But there's just no formula for this."

Kevin Hayes said that he noticed a change in his son's behaviour last year. Jimmy stopped playing professional hockey in 2019.

"I went to him and I said, 'I think there might be a problem here with pills,'" Kevin Hayes told the Globe. "He had had an injury for a while and I think he started taking the painkillers and they get you. I said, 'Jim, I think I see a problem here.' And he's 31 years old, so I can't tell him to go get help. So I said, 'When you want help, I'll be here for you, pal. Let me know.'

"He called me three weeks later and said, 'Dad, I'm hooked on these pills. I got injured and I started taking them and I never got off.' And I said, 'Well, let's get you some help.' He went to a place up in Haverhill. So he gets help and everything was on the path to recovery I thought. But this [expletive] is so powerful.''

The Devils and Blackhawks held a pre-game tribute for Hayes before New Jersey's season opener Friday.

So fuckin sad ](*,) ](*,)
So here you have a professional hockey player who gets hurt and then gets hooked on painkillers
Then goes and gets some coke and is now dead ](*,) ](*,)
You would have to be nuts to do coke these days ](*,) You have no ide what is in it
No body does one line ... so it's just a matter of time before the Fentanyl level is high enough to kill you.
One line will not kill you but if your doing a 8 ball over the course of a night it will

Sharks' Evander Kane suspended 21 games for submitting fake COVID-19 vaccination card

The NHL has suspended San Jose Sharks forward Evander Kane for 21 games for submitting a fake COVID-19 vaccination card.

The league on Monday announced the suspension without pay and said Kane will not be eligible to play until Nov. 30 at New Jersey. Kane will forfeit about $1.68 million US of his $7 million salary for this season with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The league also announced that a concurrent investigation into allegations of sexual and physical abuse made against Kane by his estranged wife, Anna, could not be substantiated.

"I would like to apologize to my teammates, the San Jose Sharks organization, and all Sharks fans for violating the NHL COVID protocols," Kane said in a statement. "I made a mistake, one I sincerely regret and take responsibility for. During my suspension, I will continue to participate in counseling to help me make better decisions in the future. When my suspension is over, I plan to return to the ice with great effort, determination, and love for the game of hockey."

Mike Bossy Diagnosed with Lung Cancer

Mike Bossy announced that he will be taking time off from his job at TVA Sports after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Hall of Fame forward Mike Bossy delivered some heartbreaking news on Tuesday evening, announcing that he will be taking some time off from his broadcasting job at TVA Sports after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

The New York Islanders legend informed the public of his diagnosis in a self-penned letter to readers on the TVA Sports website, saying that he will fight the disease "...with all the determination and all the ardor that you have seen me display on the ice and in my game. That same determination that has helped me achieve my dreams and counting my goals, the one that propelled me to the top of my sport, when I still put on my skates.”

Bossy also asked the public to respect his privacy during this difficult time.

This is difficult news for any hockey fan to grapple with.

Bossy is one of the greatest goal scorers to ever lace up skates, racking up a whopping 573 goals, good for 22nd all-time in NHL history, in just 752 career games, as his career was tragically cut short due to injury. The 64-year-old won four consecutive Stanley Cups with the Islanders during the franchise's heyday in the 1980s, along with a Calder Trophy, three Lady Byng trophies, eight all-star team selections, and the 1981-82 Conne Smythe.

Needless to say, the entire hockey world sends their thoughts to the Bossy family and wishes Mike a smooth recovery.
