The #Oilers have acquired forward Nick Bjugstad & defenceman Cam Dineen from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for defenceman Michael Kesselring & a 2023 third-round pick. In addition, Arizona will retain 50% of Bjugstad's salary.#LetsGoOilers pic.twitter.com/FM53fWlAUb

The 30-year-old has scored 13 goals and 23 points in 59 games for the Coyotes this season.
A native of Minneapolis, Minn., Bjugstad was drafted by the Florida Panthers with the 19th overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft. Bjugstad played seven seasons with the Panthers, leading the team in scoring with 38 points (16 goals, 22 assists) in 76 games as a rookie in 2013-14 and finished 13th in voting for the Calder Trophy, awarded to the NHL's top rookie.
Bjugstad was traded from the Panthers to the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2019. He spent two seasons with the Penguins (2018-19, 2019-20) before being traded to the Minnesota Wild.
Following his time with the Wild, Bjugstad signed a one-year deal with the Coyotes as a free agent.

The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired Jonathan Quick from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for fellow goaltender Michael Hutchinson and a 2025 seventh-round pick.
The trade comes just one day after the Blue Jackets acquired the goaltender from the Los Angeles Kings. Columbus retained 50 per cent of Quick's cap hit to complete the deal Thursday.

He joined Columbus in the deal that sent defenceman Vladislav Gavrikov and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to the Kings. The Blue Jackets also received a conditional 2023 first-round pick and 2024 third-round pick in the trade.
Blue Jackets general manager said Wednesday he's been in touch with the 37-year-old goaltender and hopes the team can "do the right thing" for him.
#CBJ GM Jarmo Kekalainen says he's in touch with Jonathan Quick and Quick's camp and hopes the team can "do the right thing" for the 37-year-old goaltender.

Quick is 11-13-4 in 31 appearances with the Kings in 2022-23, recording a .876 save percentage and 3.50 GAA. The Milford, Conn., product is a pending unrestricted free agent in the final season of a 10-year, $58 million contract with an AAV of $5.8 million.
Originally drafted 72nd overall by Los Angeles at the 2005 NHL Draft, Quick backstopped the Kings to two Stanley Cup championships in 2012 and 2014. He earned the Conn Smythe as playoff MVP in 2012 and is a two-time winner of the William M. Jennings Trophy (2014, 2018).
Quick has appeared in 743 career NHL games, all with the Kings, with a career .911 save percentage and 2.46 GAA.
I thought after last night Colorado would have gone after Quick

Re: It's a great day for hockey 2022-2023
Columbus Blue Jackets traded injured forward Jakub Voracek to the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday, shedding his $8.25 million cap hit through next season.
The Blue Jackets acquired goaltender Jon Gillies back in the trade and sent a 2023 sixth-round pick along with Voracek, whose NHL future is in doubt, to the Coyotes.
TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun notes adding Voracek will help Arizona reach the salary cap floor. The Coyotes said the team had acquired "the contract" of the forward in their team release.

We have also acquired the contract of forward Jakub Voráček in the deal.https://t.co/BIdqiPsJwg
— Arizona Coyotes (@ArizonaCoyotes) March 2, 2023
Voracek announced in December he would be out long-term with concussion symptoms. While noting he's had at least seven documented concussions over his NHL career, he added that his chances of playing again this season were "slim."
The team had previously announced the 33-year-old, who last played on Nov. 4, would be out indefinitely.
Voracek has one goal and six points in 11 games this season, his second with Columbus since a 2021 trade from the Philadelphia Flyers. He had six goals and 62 points in 79 games with the team last season.
Selected seventh overall by Columbus in the 2007 draft, Voracek spent the first three years of his career with the Blue Jackets before being traded to Philadelphia.
He has 223 goals and 806 points in 1,058 career games.
What a fuckin joke this team is

NHL denies Rangers’ emergency recall after Patrick Kane trade
By Mollie Walker
March 2, 2023 5:00pm
The Rangers were forced to play shorthanded for the second straight game Thursday night against the Senators, after the NHL denied their emergency recall, but their cap situation is expected to impact the team for the rest of the season.
According to a league source, the NHL found that the Rangers essentially created the emergency recall situation.
Amid Ryan Lindgren’s upper-body injury and K’Andre Miller’s three-game suspension for the spitting match penalty he earned against the Kings on Sunday, the Rangers were in a roster emergency before they traded for Patrick Kane.
At that time, they had enough cap space to make a regular recall.
Since the Rangers chose to address the roster emergency by adding Kane and, as a result, use all their cap space, the league decided that the club voluntarily put itself in the man-short situation.
Due to their current cap situation, the Rangers won’t be able to make any regular recalls to AHL Hartford for the rest of the season.
They only will be able to summon help from Hartford under emergency protocols.
It is believed that the Rangers won’t be able to add another player until Lindgren is healthy or Miller returns from his suspension, whichever comes first.
Even then, they’ll have to play one game short before they can call up a player making $850,000 or less under the emergency rule. That cuts Zac Jones and his $925,000 cap hit as an option.
“Honestly, the players didn’t mind it,” head coach Gerard Gallant said of his team after skating a man down in Wednesday night’s 3-2 overtime win in Philadelphia.
“There was nobody coming back to the bench gassed. I think they really enjoyed it.”
The concern now is how heavy the defense corps’ workload has been in recent games.
When Braden Schneider and Ryan Carpenter were glued to the bench against the Kings this week, and Miller was ejected in the first period, Jacob Trouba logged 29:01 of ice time, while Ben Harpur (28:04), Adam Fox (25:57) and Niko Mikkola (25:34) were close behind.
In Philadelphia Wednesday night, Fox led the Rangers with 28:25 of ice time, while Mikkola, Schneider and Trouba all logged over 23 minutes each.
Lindgren’s injury and Miller’s suspension somewhat complicated the Rangers position, but the organization had to take these steps in order to acquire Kane.
Whether or not it was all worth it is yet to be seen.

I seem to recall an interesting cap situation utilized by the Lightning on their 1st run to the cup -- "long term" injuries or something like that
all I ask for is consistency in applying the rules
