Re: New York Rangers 2022/23
I'm hearing the rangers might want Claude Giroux
Re: New York Rangers 2022/23
^^^^
he's 35
scores 0.9 points per game
+34 for a career (1018 games)
not sure there's enough there to spend the money on
I don't think he's the piece of the puzzle needed
forget that he's a lifelong Flyer (even Esposito got us to the finals)
I just don't see enough up side on a flat cap to make it worth our while
we know what we need - we can see what we have and make a move at the next deadline
he'd be worth a rental for a playoff run - but our window is opening
not closing
no need to chase what will be readily available in March
I HATE SALARY CAPS - let the players make all they can

Miller could be quite the upgrade at #3 center or even a productive #2
he's played here (NYC) and knows what it takes to be a pro here
Boeser?
stats show he doesn't pay great attention to the other side of the puck
another RW? - does this guy kill penalties?

Re: New York Rangers 2022/23
Trocheck agrees to seven-year contract with Rangers
Forward had 51 points in 81 games with Hurricanes; New York also adds goalies Domingue, Halak
should have gone all in on Johnny hockey if we were going to go that long
could have made him a Ranger for life at a relatively low cap hit per year
I know the rules were changed after the Kovelchuk contract years ago
but we could have worked it out some how I think
30 years old? - but he's one of "turk's" guys so.....
I remember when Parcells called players "his guys" and that worked out pretty good

I don't know if Trocheck is an upgrade from Strome
but I know Strome had chemistry with the breadman
and he took less money over fewer years to go to the ducks
the coach and drury better know something I don't

Kakko agrees to two-year contract with Rangers
Restricted free agent forward had 18 points last season
Kaapo Kakko agreed to a two-year contract with the New York Rangers on Thursday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The 21-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, had 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 43 regular-season games for the Rangers last season and five points (two goals, three assists) in 19 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected by New York with the No. 2 pick of the 2019 NHL Draft, Kakko has 58 points (26 goals, 32 assists) in 157 regular-season games and five points in 22 playoff games.
The Rangers (52-24-6) lost in six games to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final last season. They agreed to contracts with center Vincent Trocheck (seven years) and goalie Jaroslav Halak (one year) in free agency.
Forwards Ryan Strome (Anaheim Ducks), Frank Vatrano (Ducks), Andrew Copp (Detroit Red Wings), and defenseman Justin Braun (Philadelphia Flyers) left in free agency, and goalie Alexandar Georgiev was traded to the Colorado Avalanche on July 7.

I think the same about Chytil - but every time I think his upside has leveled out...
he shows a little more... and you think - just a little more sample size
To be fair...Kakko has got hurt... often for a youngster
in the pros... your greatest asset is availability
we can all see the goods when he's playing freely and not banged up
but this is a mans' league and he has to prove he's durable in the long haul
Just look up at the rafters young man - look at the numbers
7 30 3 1 - you don't necessarily have to WIN... but you have to show up and work every night
dominating your peers at a young age is easy
dominating as a man is harder
(moneyball) "...we're all told Kappo that at some point in your life; ya can't play the little boys game anymore.... some are told at 30, some 35.... others are told at 18.... but they're all told..."
