Re: post videos of you playing
thanks, digging that hobo song, forgot how cool the chord progression is.

It's my 9-yr old son's favorite bluegrass tune.CloudHands wrote:thanks, digging that hobo song, forgot how cool the chord progression is.
I played it at a show he was at several years ago - I think he was 5 or 6 - he would wag his finger at me up & down during "just like you.." EVERY time
I almost cracked up on stage.

I mean you have a large repertoire in a state of rehearsal that they're all ready to perform. And apparently at least two different ensembles of musicians. Do you go out to practice seven nites a week or what?Pappy wrote:What do u mean?
BTW, sweet pickin' during the solo on Wild Horses. That is you on acoustic guitar, right?
One more thing- the person dancing has the largest Steal Yer Face patch in existence on that jacket.

Well we only had 1 rehearsal for this acoustic ensemble. And we only do this once or twice a year. theCAUSE rehearses every Wednesday. I've been playing some of these tunes for a looooong time
Here are some more from this really fun night. After these I think there are 3 more to post. The song of this set (rearrangement of the Beatles' "I'm Only Sleeping") was unfortunately not recorded on video. But we do have the audio.

Re: post videos of you playing
Speaking of gigs that only occur once or twice a year, here's a clip of my once-a-year gig with a band of fellow teachers from the high school I teach at. Even though I'm singing the song, I'm in the darker part of the stage on the right. I step into the light for a mercifully short guitar solo after the third verse.

Guitar got knocked off a table, small crack on the back. it crosses over a brace so for now its held in place and still flush, the crack in the varnish is longer than the actual crack in the inside of the guitar. Think im gonna glue a paint stick over it to keep it from growing.
Re: post videos of you playing
Fuck! A PAINT STICK? I'm not sure that'll do the trick....you don't happen to live near Long Island, NY do ya?CloudHands wrote:Guitar got knocked off a table, small crack on the back. it crosses over a brace so for now its held in place and still flush, the crack in the varnish is longer than the actual crack in the inside of the guitar. Not really no. Yeah, I swear, an old luthier said popsicle stick haha. At least its on the back and not the top. I'm not noticing anything strange or different with the sound. I just dont want the crack to keep cracking.
At first there was just a wave/line in the varnish but it was smooth, a few days later the varnish cracked along the line, just changed strings and stuck my hand inside and feel a tiny hairline crack in the wood.
Not rushing in to anything, I just changed strings and I am performing on Tuesday. Hoping to get multiple opinions before I take action which will be wednesday at the earliest.
