It is somewhat similar to Cortez but it is in 6/8 . Also,it has a Bm We jammed it at the art opening with a 20 something kid and he had trouble with the 6/8 expecting the changes on 4. He was fine on a 12 bar blues.

This came out really bad- I could blame the "looper", but I guess it's really just me keeping time poorly. I think I'll try again, slowing the tempo down about 30%. Do you think I played the rhythm too fast?

My band leans toward afropop and jazz, but once a year I get to play traditional country, folk and bluegrass with a big troupe of amazing musicians from North Carolina. Always a fantastic night with a great crowd at a sweet little theater in Carrboro. Check this guy's voice out! (That's me playing dobro)

Not bad, Steve. The slides sounded good. Very Bob Dylan-like harmonica playing. What's your part in the trio?

Check out the difference in tone that it makes at 1:56 when I switch the telecaster's pickup switch to the bridge position. I wouldn't dream of customizing this guitar with different pups!

My favorite stock-cliche blues riffs are the ones I play from 2:51 to 3:01

That's a very interesting piece of music right there.
Stangely, I find it difficult to play to a metronome click, even though I know my tempo often drifts.
I noticed that I can count four clicks to most of the phrases you play, yet your playing begins after the fifth click. Is there any significance to that, or is the start arbitrary- just when you're "ready to go"?

It's a Rumba in 2/4. I am just punching in on the 1.

it's like 1 e and a 2 e and a etc @ 92 bpm

Not a video of me playing, but a couple of clips of early mixes from our forthcoming album.

First is a little duet with the great Danny Gotham. Danny took runner-up in the national fingerpicking championship as a kid, but is a killer electric player, too. He plays the first solo, then I come in, then both. He's playing a Parker Fly direct to board, which I remic'd through my old Vibrolux. I'm playing my Heritage H575 through the Vibrolux and a little slapback from a Fulltone TTE.

This one is a good example of my 1972 Tele, played through my Vibrolux w volume and treble dimed, bass off, bright switch on. Followed by a solo on my mid 50s Stringmaster, and then some e-kalimba.

Ought to be done by the Fall. All the tracks from our last album are posted here:

Nice to see that the funnest thread on the board is gettin' some action again! And two great posts.

Stevus: that sounds like fun. Which guy in the photo are you? It's hard for me to listen to becuz it makes me wish I was there, contributin' to the fun. (I've been to the last two fests and couldn't make it this year 'cuz of family concerns). Hopefully next year I get to participate in the merry-making with the many musicians who attend.

Will- that's f-ing awesome! Definitely keep smoothin' that one out. It's REALLY gonna be a nice performance piece! I'd like to learn some of those techniques. Now I gotta pick up my guitar for the first time in a coupla weeks, and if something strikes me I'm gonna plug in the looper and try to record some music tonite, but it'll just be the same-old same-old.

The "Musicians' Corner" thread lives again!
