Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all
Inspiration move me brightly / Light my heart with sense and color /
Hold away despair / More than this I will not ask / Faced with mysteries dark and vast.............
Hold away despair / More than this I will not ask / Faced with mysteries dark and vast.............
Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
Well I remember, I remember don't worry
How could I ever forget
It's the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep this silence up
No you don't fool me
The hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you and me
How could I ever forget
It's the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep this silence up
No you don't fool me
The hurt doesn't show, but the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you and me

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
The scent that you left on my pillow
The sound of your heartbeat with mine
The look in your eyes like a window
The taste of your kiss soaked in wine
Every little thing
I remember every little thing
The high, the hurt, the shine, the sting
Of every little thing
Guess you forgot what you told me
Because you left my heart on the floor
Baby, your ghost still haunts me
But I don't want to sleep with her no more
The sound of your heartbeat with mine
The look in your eyes like a window
The taste of your kiss soaked in wine
Every little thing
I remember every little thing
The high, the hurt, the shine, the sting

Come to my window
Oh, crawl inside
Wait by the light of the moon
Come to my window
I'll be home soon
I'll be home
I'll be home
I'm coming home
Oh, crawl inside
Wait by the light of the moon
Come to my window
I'll be home soon
I'll be home
I'll be home
I'm coming home

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
When the wind blows,
and the rain feels cold
With a head full of snow,
with a head full of snow
In the window,
there's a face you know
Don't the night pass slow?
Don't the nights pass slow?
The sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind
Just another mad, mad day on the road
I am just living to be lying by your side
But I'm just about a moonlight mile
on down the road
Made a rag pile of my shiny clothes
Going to warm my bones,
going to warm my bones
I've got silence on my radio
Let the airwaves flow, let the airwaves flow
and the rain feels cold
With a head full of snow,
with a head full of snow
In the window,
there's a face you know
Don't the night pass slow?
Don't the nights pass slow?

In the winter time
When all the leaves are brown
And the wind blows (So chill)
And the birds
Have all flown
For the summer
I'm callin'
Hear me callin'
Hear me callin'
Ah, ah
Steve Miller

If you don't come soon
I'll know your love ain't true
Hear me call on you

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
Yeah, you got satin shoes
Yeah, you got plastic boots
Y'all got cocaine eyes
Yeah, you got speed-freak jive, now
Can't you hear me knockin' on your window?
Can't you hear me knockin' on your door?
Can't you hear me knockin' down your dirty street?
Yeah
Yeah, you got plastic boots
Y'all got cocaine eyes

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
There was a lady on the mountain
Eyes like pools of water in the sun
Hair flowed down her shoulders like the river
I could see her chest move up and down
Started calling out
She was calling out to you
Hear her calling out
She's been calling out to you
Eyes like pools of water in the sun
Hair flowed down her shoulders like the river
I could see her chest move up and down
Started calling out
She was calling out to you

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
As I was walkin' 'round Grosvenor Square
Not a chill to the Winter but a nip to the air
From the other direction, she was calling my eye
It could be an illusion, but I might as well try, might as well try

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
The line was long at Cafe Du Monde so I walked out on the pier
Thought about all the winds and turns and mistakes that got me here
Might as well try to change the course this old river takes
Than to go back in time when you were mine, pretend it's not late
It's not good for a man to be alone
But a women needs someone that she can count on
And what I'd give to go back but the current's just too strong
Love is like the Mississippi
When she's gone she's gone
Thought about all the winds and turns and mistakes that got me here
Might as well try to change the course this old river takes
Than to go back in time when you were mine, pretend it's not late

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
There's a rumor goin' around the town.
That you don't want me around.
I can't shake off my city blues.
Everywhere I turn, I lose.
Love is Like Oxygen,
You get too much, you get too high,
Not enough and you're gonna die.
Love gets you high.
That you don't want me around.
I can't shake off my city blues.
Everywhere I turn, I lose.
Love is Like Oxygen,
You get too much, you get too high,
Not enough and you're gonna die.
Love gets you high.

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
Remember the first time that hit set in
We were in the backyard listening
We let the songs on the record play
You told me you wanted to stay the night
He sang to us "everything will be alright"
Our favorite songs on the record play
Your love gets me so high
Like when we're listening to Bob Marley
And you can feel it in the melody
Your love gets me so high
Like when we're listening to Bob Marley
And you can feel it in the melody
He's got us singing like oooohhhh whooooaaaa
You know we got the feeling right
We were in the backyard listening
We let the songs on the record play
You told me you wanted to stay the night
He sang to us "everything will be alright"
Our favorite songs on the record play
Your love gets me so high
Like when we're listening to Bob Marley

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless skies, my love
To the dark and the endless skies
And the first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth move in my hand
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command, my love
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the endless skies, my love

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
When Ruthie says come see her
In her honky-tonk lagoon
Where I can watch her waltz for free
'Neath her Panamanian moon
And I say, "Aw come on now
You know, you know about my debutante"
And she says, "Your debutante just knows what you need
But I know what you want"
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again
In her honky-tonk lagoon
Where I can watch her waltz for free
'Neath her Panamanian moon
And I say, "Aw come on now
You know, you know about my debutante"
And she says, "Your debutante just knows what you need
But I know what you want"
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
Sometimes I get to feeling
I was back in the old days long ago.
When we were kids, when we were young
Things seemed so perfect. You know?
The days were endless, we were crazy, we were young.
The sun was always shining. We just lived for fun.
Sometimes it seems like lately.
I just don't know.
The rest of my life's been just a show.
Those were the days of our lives.
The bad things in life were so few.
Those days are all gone now,
But one thing is true
When I look and I find I still love you.
I was back in the old days long ago.
When we were kids, when we were young
Things seemed so perfect. You know?
The days were endless, we were crazy, we were young.

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played
songs that made the hit parade
Guys like me we had it made
Those were the days
Didn't need no welfare state
ev'rybody pulled his weight
gee our old LaSalle ran great
Those were the days
And you knew who you were then
girls were girls and men were men
Mister we could use a man like Herbert Hoover again
songs that made the hit parade
Guys like me we had it made
Those were the days
Didn't need no welfare state
ev'rybody pulled his weight

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way
La la la la
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Then the busy years went rushing by us
We lost our starry notions on the way
If by chance I'd see you in the tavern
We'd smile at one another and we'd say
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way
La la la la
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Just tonight I stood before the tavern
Nothing seemed the way it used to be
In the glass I saw a strange reflection
Was that lonely woman really me
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way
La la la la
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days
Through the door there came familiar laughter
I saw your face and heard you call my name
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same
Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way

Re: The return of the Lyric Association Thread
Once upon a time there was an engineer.
Drove a locomotive both far and near.
Accompanied by a monkey that would sit on a stool
Watching everything the engineer would do
One day the engineer wanted a bite to eat,
He left the monkey sitting on the driver's seat,
The monkey pulled the throttle, the locomotive jumped the gun
And did 80 miles an hour down the mainline run.

Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
It's not always gonna be this gray
All things must pass
All things must pass away
