Great Night on the beach front, excellent weather with moon trying to peak out and seagulls floting in the sky above the stage, nice :-)
Love those opening show Jams into ?
Great Opener Help Slip and Sic Miss 1/2 step were my highlights, overall good show, Bobby looked good and long haired (don't trim that beard till it's over bobstar) and sounded good, MK was on as the rest. Warren came out and played but didn't over power and was on fire, he cooked during the Bros. show bending those Golden Gibson strings all the way. Looking forward to Saratoga and Ratdog in the cool Northern air......What's that smell??.....oh that's just some walkin thru the woods Skunk....weed. Peace and Roses - J

I thoroughly enjoyed the show but the cops at jones beach are UNREAL

What a great night for a show - about 30 degrees warmer than last years Jones beach show!! I thought the band was fantastic and the setlist was great. I keep reading reviews saying that the boys are flat and Bobby is tired, but that didn't show last night. They were all full of energy and really into it the whole night. The highlight for me was Mark's solo on Peggy-O - Magnificent! Warren sitting in for Speedway-Mississippi was also fun. Can't wait until Westbury this fall for the usual halloween gigs.

FUN SHOW. I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO BYPASS THE JONES BEEFROIDS BEACH SECURITY (BY SCALING THE WALL) AND END UP 8TH ROW CENTER!! AS NELSON WOULD SAY "HAA- HAA". THEY STILL GOT ME LATER BY SAYING THAT I HAD TO PUT ON MY SHIRT. ARE WE REALLY AT THE BEACH OR NOT? STUFF WAS FUN. I THINK EVEN THE OLD FOLKS LIKED IT. I ALWAYS ENJOY BELTIN' OUT THE LYRICS TO LIBERTY. I WISH OTHERS ENJOYED MY ENTHUSIASM FOR THESE LYRICS AND MAKE IT A SING ALONG. KNOCKIN WAS A LITTLE SLOW FOR ME BUT 1/2 STEP WAS A GOOD BOOGIE. KIND FOLKS IN THE LOT. ROLL AWAY THE DEW.

Nice night, weak show. Not much energy, MK still not turned up enough. Warren smoked...as usual.

One of the best post-Grateful Dead shows I've been to. Bobby looked and played great, although with the thick mustache and beard you can't see his upper lip move, which makes me think he's lip-synching. LOL. The hightlight for me was "Peggy-O", it was really beautiful. The band is real hot, I liked Robin Sylvester on bass and Chementi and Karan are always excellent. Another high was "Mississippi half Step," with Warren Haynes, who is soulful in a way that recalls Jerry. If I must say, Bobby has taken on a bit of an iconic type stature.

another great ratdog show.smoking speedway and teriffic half step(with warren haynes).Liberty,Corinna,Peggyo and an awsome Masters of war.(Even better than Dylans version from Prospect park Bklyn the nite before!) This ones a keeper.MB

another under-volumed low energy non-rockin' ratdog show, what a surprise. warren did add some energy. i wish Bob could rock more like phil's band does

saw the last 2 shows, the criticism is well founded, the band has lost significant energy and passion in the past year or so since marks return. yes, this is a review by the way, so the defenders who take it personally when bobby is called to the mat should realize it. fact is, the band is slow, sloppy, uninspired, and way too matter of fact. Dead type shows need to have at least the potential to knock yer socks off even if it may not happen, but there is no chance of that the way these guys are playing. predictibly mediocre is the way it is, and that is from someone who has seen the doggy for 6 years and the dead from way back. Hate to compare, but right now Phil and his high volume high energy guitar partners are where its at!!

I really liked the show. In fact, for me at least, I am prefering Ratdog to the latest incarnation of Phil & Friends. Peggy-O was a highlight as was Mississippi 1/2 Step.

Mixed reviews on both shows so far we will have to wait and see how the remaining 10 shows are. How have the ALLMAN BROTHERS been the last two nights. Curious to hear some input. Sounds like Warren was on fire last night with Bob and the boys.
Your comments would be appreciated. Enjoy the rest of the shows.
Thanks

This was a magical show. The chocolate treat might have helped. You dont need "High speed" tempo for music to be inspirational. For all those who complain about the "speed" are not listening to the "music". You either are connecting with or your not. I dont always connect with "IT" but last night i did. The Master of War and even the She Says were played beautifully. The most magical moment for me came when they were playing Knockin and the moon seemed to appear out of no where. Swans in the bay, flocks of birds made this a very special night. I am a HUGE Phan of Phil and love what he is doing. But i at the same time really respect and appreciate the music Ratdog is putting out. The Allmans started to get very interesting when Jeff Mark and Kenny played with them. At one point i saw Greg Allman looking around saying "What the fu''' is goin on here. LOL Thanks guys for a real good time.

Bobby was great last night... Had me boogying hard last night... MK ripped it on guitar, the band was tight, and the 1/2 step with warren was just ridiculous. i can't believe all these "low energy" complaints... i don't know what you guys were listening to. Only lame thing last night was the crowd... seemed hardly anybody was grooving... but that was no fault of Bobby's (or the Allmans for that matter). Ratdog was awesome... keep it up boys!

Nice show. Loss of time incident must be reported! Ratdog's set flew past me. Loved the Missi 1/2. Warren sitting in was nice. This didn't happen at Vegas7/3(my last show) Enjoyed Allman (as usual) I would suggest putting Ratdog second on the bill every once n awhile. Love the Jones Beach setting! Camden Next.

I'm just thankful that the Allman Bros are only with Bobby for a short time. Wasnt at the show this year (although the setlist looked good). I was at Jones Beach (BOOO) last year when Bobby let Allman come out to butcher Love Light. Cant wait till the solo RD shows come back around..

Great Dog show, shitty venue except for the view of the water. All this Dylan music should help you complainers understand that you aren't gonna hear Scarlet>Fire>Sugar Mag/GDTRFB everytime out. These guys are good at what they do....listen to the music play..... Oh and ya they need to chill on the time constraints with package shows....kills the vibe alittle.

I'm really starting to wonder what planet some of my fellow attendees are on and just what show they are seeing.

This was a great show - not the ultimate but the standard high energy 4.5 stars!: Maybe people need to stop putting their demands for what "should" be up front, and pay a little more attention to what is actually happening in front of them.

I thought this show was a great leap forward for r.d. in terms of what they are becoming as their own band and they proceed forward -- I was not disappointed at all! Maybe it's the concept of "something new" that throws some people off.

Even worse is this new "Bob" vs. "Phil" stuff people seem to insist upon now - very juvenile, narrow-minded and definitely not in the spirit of the "old days"! Wanna see Bob? -- see Bob and enjoy! Wanna see Phil? -- see Phil and enjoy!

I guess the idiotic need for comparison comes from those without enough perspective to know that they both were responsible for two separate "strands" as it were of the GD sound; and it's actually fascinating to hear both and understand who was responsible for what.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but the whining and crying b/c they didn't play "Sugar Magnolia" or something else you insisted upon hearing, is just too juvenile.

everyone seemed to be sitting...NOT ME!!!...i had pretty near ALL the aisles ANYWHERE i floated...sure, i got a couple "sir, you need to find a seat"...tho, i did have the "there's one right there, and one right there" dance on away vibe in full...i would've preferred 2 sets of Bobby, FOR SURE!!!..."IF UNABLE TO DANCE, I'LL CRAWL"...i see Phil bunches...i see Bobby bunches...people, we are seeing these members of GD played by the music & where the inspiration so takes THEIR music...if you want the GRATEFUL DEAD, go see DSO...what i experienced from Bobby @ Jones Beach resounds in amazing beauty...highlights?...help>slip launched as a springboard for Used2 {SMOKIN'!}...She Says jams fun>Liberty {with it still being daylight & the yellow shirt security scrutinizing the lone aisle dancer [ME] was fun tongue-in-cheek "LEAVE ME ALONE"}...1st post dead Corinna {WOW, like really, ACTUALLY}...pretty Peggy-o...MASTERS OF WAR {whoa now}...NewSpeedway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>holding a similar space 1/2Step {i dig Warren's GUITAR at time, except for Little Light with the P&F quintet, NOT his voice}...stuff...KNOCKIN'!!! {i gave some GD to the ampitheater for JERRY}>slip>franks...

THEN.....

well, due to AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, SYNCHRONISTIC, GD-I CHING circumstances }"once in awhile you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right...}, i have nothing else to input {regarding ABB}...

so, Jones Beach...i vibrate at my frequency, shining light SO BrIgHt!!!! security? cops? etc? {"...i let it pass by..." invisible-like}

Peace, Love, Light :)

In comparing the Ratdog and Phil shows at Jones Beach this summer, I feel this way - Ratdog had a harder driving edge to its music. Phil and Friends is trippier. I wonder what it would sound like if these two elements combined? Nevertheless, both shows were great and you can't beat the setting. Peace, Nye

Any show with Corrina in it is going to be on a DNL (do not listen) list. Amazes me that song is still around. It was as aweful today as it was in the 90's. Liberty also a snoozer. Peggy-O and New Speedway were saviors and played extremely well.

Allmans rocked out and Warren always a +

Thomas Healy, Massapequa, NY
i though corrina was just fantastic
a whole row of dudes in front of me were grooving on she says and corrina, blowing smoke, high fiving
by the time the allmans took the stage, the whole row had passed out
great show!
