Saw Hippie Bill at plenty of Ratdog shows. Waving That Flag was super cool and fun! Rage when it's time to rage. Rest when it's time to rest. Peace to you, Hippie Bill.

(((((((((((((((((((( Hippie Bill ))))))))))))))))))))))))) met Bill at Penn's Peak when it snowed a foot... he was greeting heads at the hotel door before the first night's show. "You Made It!" - 'Yes- wouldn't miss it' .... it was only a foot of snow... Ratdog is playing!! side note: Bobby was staying at same hotel - true to form he walked out to the jeep that was taking the band up the mountain in his sandals. gotta love that guy!

We loved hippie bill. Our first encounter was Lupos shit hole in providence ri. My wife put her drink on a road case and he freaked out. Our second encounter was turning stone casino in upstate ny and he told us a really cool story about how a product that I made got the whole crew safely across the border into Canada. Turned out the customs dude that was about to bust them all was also a fan of the product. Result was smooth entry and no busts. Safe travels on your next journey my friend.

Such a shame , I met Bill at my first RD show, just a small Ryder box truck very small, we became good friends had Mutual acquaintances we never knew about, needless to say we became good friends and always hung out at shows before and after his duties. Bill is the kind man you would be proud to know. I been staying in touch with his clan and I m sorry to say that I want him to be held by the hand with a smile and walk him across the line. No man should suffer like he has. I love you Bill and I’ll see you in on the other side God Bless!

Thank You for sharing Big John. Read your words yesterday and felt them in my heart. Only know him by sight and sound. Never had occasion to speak to Him. Just got to cheer the Flag waving and hear it on CD's. Seemed a Damn decent Man. Hope His friends find comfort in having known Him and peace in His walking on. Hope the same for Bill....... God Bless!

I talked with him a couple times and he gave me a setlist after a show in 2005. I was fortunate to have Weir sign it later that night. I have it framed and It's one of my prized possessions. Bill really was as nice as could be and I'm saddened to hear about his health.

From FB page:

"Latest Hippie Bill & Dave update..(via an email from his wonderful caretaker)

Bill is in "Limbo".. There's no reason why his body hasn't passed yet, but he's still hanging on. She rubs his hands and feet. Speaks softly to him, and tells him that it's ok to go. But he hasn't yet. His "official" caretaker, the hospice nurse who comes for the evening cycle says at most it will be another day or two before his body has no other choice but to release his soul. But at same time, a day or two has already happened and he's still there. Other words, time is VERY SHORT now.. He's had a bunch of Friends come by and say Goodbye.(hence my choice of Black Peter).
As much as we all know Bills trip here is done, it's really taking a toll on his Brother David, which whom they've spent their whole adult life together. He is slowly realizing that he will be alone soon, and it's not wearing too well on him.
We need to pray for him right now as well.
He is going to miss his Little Brother Billy so much, and he's afraid.

With all that being said, again kids, hold your Loves real close and always tell them that you Love them, as we never know when the end is here.
Peace, Love & Light to All
I will update as warranted. NFA RD FAMILY"

David... Wish I could give him a great big HUG. My brother passed some years back. Always felt we were tied at the soul. We were brothers for a reason. I still miss him. All I can say David is the love will see you thru. but wtf do i know
I Trust in we stick around until whatever needs finishing is done. Though it can hurt like hell waiting.
God Bless Bill and ((((Family))))
