* Aleksander Barkov made an immediate impact in his return to the Panthers lineup following an eight-game absence as he led Florida to victory in its tune-up ahead of 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal.

* San Jose secured their first win of the season in dramatic fashion by staging the third three-goal, third-period comeback win in franchise history. Overall, four teams overcame a multi-goal deficit to at least tie the game Monday with the Sharks being the only team to earn a victory.

* Tuesday’s seven-game slate features an ESPN doubleheader which pits the Rangers against the Capitals before the Kings visit the Sharks. Marc-Andre Fleury also returns to Pittsburgh to face-off against familiar faces.

BARKOV LIFTS PANTHERS TO VICTORY IN FINAL GAME BEFORE NHL GLOBAL SERIES

Captain Aleksander Barkov (1-1—2) was one of three Finnish-born players to find the score sheet (also Eetu Luostarinen: 0-1—1 & Anton Lundell: 0-1—1) as the Atlantic Division-leading Panthers (7-3-1, 15 points) scored five or more goals in consecutive road games – one contest shy of the longest stretch in franchise history (3 GP in 2021-22 & 2011-12). Florida will now head overseas to take on the Stars (7-2-0, 14 points) for the 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal.

* This will be the second time Barkov plays an NHL game in his home country (also 2018 Global Series in Helsinki) but the first time he’ll play an NHL contest in his hometown of Tampere. He made a name for himself on the international stage at the 2012 World Junior Championship when, at age 16, he became the second-youngest player to score a goal at the event behind Sidney Crosby.

DID YOU KNOW? Barkov (18 years, 31 days) made his NHL debut on Oct. 3, 2013 at American Airlines Center in Dallas and became the youngest player since 1943-44 to score his first career goal (beating Stars netminder Kari Lehtonen to achieve the feat). He remains the youngest player to score in the past 80 years and the youngest European to score in NHL history.

SHARKS SURGE BACK FROM THREE-GOAL DEFICIT TO WIN IN OT

Down 4-1 in the third period, the Sharks surged back in dramatic fashion with Fabian Zetterlund (2-0—2), Mikael Granlund (1-2—3) and Tyler Toffoli (1-1—2) each finding the back of the net in a span of 1:50 to pull the Sharks even, setting the stage for Alexander Wennberg’s (1-1—2) overtime heroics. It marked the third time in franchise history that San Jose overcame a three-goal, third period deficit to win (also Dec. 5, 2023 at NYI & Dec. 8, 2010 at PHI).

* The Sharks became the ninth team in NHL history to win their first game of a season by overcoming a three-goal deficit in the third period. They joined the 2021-22 Lightning, 2019-20 Canadiens, 2019-20 Jets, 2016-17 Jets, 2015-16 Wild, 2013-14 Oilers, 2009-10 Wild and 1986-87 Whalers.

TAVARES NETS HAT TRICK TO HELP MAPLE LEAFS SNAP JETS’ STREAK

John Tavares netted three of his team’s six goals while his teammates William Nylander (1-2—3) and Max Pacioretty (0-3—3) also put up three-point performances to help the Maple Leafs snap the Jets’ season-opening winning streak at eight games. Toronto earned its sixth straight win against Winnipeg dating to March 31, 2022, tied for its longest active run against a single opponent (also 6-0-0 vs. DAL).

* Tavares recorded his 12th career hat trick, tied with Connor McDavid for the seventh most among active skaters behind only Alex Ovechkin (30), David Pastrnak (17), Evgeni Malkin (13), Sidney Crosby (13), Steven Stamkos (13) and Auston Matthews (13).

* Hockey Fights Cancer powered by the V Foundation presented by AstraZeneca has returned this season. With every hat trick, AstraZeneca will donate $3,000 to the Hockey Fights Cancer Fund of the V Foundation up to $300,000. Additionally, all 32 Clubs are set to host in-game awareness nights throughout the season beginning with the Bruins tonight.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS REMAIN UNDEFEATED AT HOME

Keegan Kolesar (2-1—3) and Nicolas Roy (1-2—3) each posted three-point outings as the Golden Knights shut out the Flames and extended their home winning streak to seven games, tied for the second longest in franchise history. Their only longer run was in 2017-18 (8-0-0).

STAMKOS’ RETURN TO TAMPA, MacKINNON’S STREAK FEATURED IN LIVE UPDATES

The latest edition of Live Updates featured more #NHLStats from Monday’s eight-game slate, including noteworthy performances from a couple of No.1 picks.

* The Lightning celebrated Predators forward Steven Stamkos (0-2—2) in his return to AMALIE Arena as the franchise icon nearly guided his new club to a third straight multi-goal comeback win, but Nick Paul scored with 1:38 remaining in overtime to secure the win for the Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 35 saves in the effort and captured his ninth straight victory against Nashville dating to Dec. 3, 2019 – his fourth-longest stretch versus one franchise behind Chicago (13 GP), Detroit (13) and Montreal (11 GP). His streak against the Blackhawks is still active.

* Nathan MacKinnon (1-0—1) and Cale Makar (0-1—1) each extended their season-opening point streak to 10 games – the forward’s second such stretch (13 GP in 2019-20) – and became the first pair of teammates in Avalanche/Nordiques history with simultaneous runs of at least that length to begin a campaign.

ESPN DOUBLEHEADER HIGHLIGHTS TUESDAY’S SLATE

After five contests hosted by Eastern Conference clubs open Tuesday’s slate, a pair of rivalries will be featured on an ESPN doubleheader to cap the night. At 7:30 p.m. ET, Artemi Panarin will look to extend his season-opening point streak to nine games when the Rangers take the Eastern Conference’s top points percentage (.813) into Washington to face Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals. At 10 p.m. ET, former teammates Anze Kopitar and Tyler Toffoli will clash for the second time in six days as Pacific Division foes renew acquaintances when the Kings visit the Sharks.

* The Rangers (6-1-1, 13 points) and Capitals (5-2-0, 10 points) meet for the first time since the two clubs clashed during the First Round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Panarin’s season-opening point streak has brought the forward within striking distance of 800 career points (271-525—796 in 680 GP) – a mark his counterpart Tuesday, Ovechkin, reached prior to his 700th contest (658 GP). Connor McDavid (545 GP) holds the benchmark for fewest games by an active player.

* Longtime teammates Kopitar and Toffoli spent more than 500 games together from 2012-13 to 2019-20 (regular season & playoffs) – a stretch that included the Stanley Cup in 2013-14. The duo factored on the same goal 52 times, the second most by any teammate in Toffoli’s career behind only Jeff Carter (87).

* Another storyline on Tuesday’s docket is what could be Marc-Andre Fleury’s final game in Pittsburgh as the Wild visit the Penguins for the only time in the 2024-25 regular season. Fleury made 691 of his 1,027 career regular-season appearances in a Penguins uniform from 2003-04 to 2016-17 (67.3%) – including 667 of his 997 starts (66.9%) – and was part of each of their past three Stanley Cup-winning teams.

* Fleury dressed at least 650 games as teammates with each of Sidney Crosby (861), Evgeni Malkin (790) and Kris Letang (655), including 465 in which the entire quartet all dressed. Fleury has since faced them each at least six times (Crosby: 2-2—4 in 6 GP; Malkin: 2-4—6 in 6 GP; Letang: 1-4—5 in 9 GP).

* Fleury has won four of six head-to-heads against Crosby (4-2-0 in 6 GP; .923 SV%, 2.51 GAA, 1 SO), three of six against Malkin (3-3-0 in 6 GP; .896 SV%, 3.20 GAA) and five of nine against Letang (5-4-0 in 9 GP; .906 SV%, 3.05 GAA, 1 SO). Overall, Fleury has faced the Penguins nine times in his career (5-4-0, including 1-3-0 at PIT), including five games in which he faced all three of those former teammates (Dec. 14, 2017 at VGK; Feb. 6, 2018 at PIT; Jan. 19, 2019 at VGK; April 6, 2023 at PIT; Feb. 9, 2024 at MIN).

Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid suffered a lower-body injury in the first period of Monday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets and did not return.

TSN's Ryan Rishaug reported that the initial word out of Columbus was that the injury wasn't too serious but head coach Kris Knoblauch told reporters that McDavid will be travelling back to Edmonton to get re-evaluated. Leaving the road trip means McDavid is expected to miss Thursday's game against the Nashville Predators, with Edmonton headed back to Alberta after that for a road clash with the Calgary Flames.

Knoblauch says McDavid coming back to Edmonton to get evaluated.

— Ryan Rishaug (@TSNRyanRishaug) October 29, 2024
The injury occurred during the opening shift of the game as McDavid was battling for the puck in the offensive zone.

Blue Jackets defenceman Zach Werenski appeared to trip McDavid, who went tumbling into the boards. No penalty was called on the play.

The Oilers' captain attempted to remain in the play, but eventually skated to the bench under his own power and did not take another shift.

Edmonton ended up falling to the Blue Jackets 6-1 on Monday, dropping their record to 4-5-1 on the early season.

“He's our leader and also the best player in the game,” Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins said. “So, of course you're going to feel it. We’ve got to do a better job of stepping up when a guy like that goes down.”

McDavid has appeared in nine games this season for the Oilers and has three goals and seven assists.

Post by hockeygame3 » Wed Oct 30, 2024 9:09 am

* A national broadcast on ESPN watched Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin score twice in a span of 1:47 to register his 82nd career multi-goal period and boost his all-time totals to 857 tallies in 1,434 games. He moved within 38 goals of passing Wayne Gretzky for the most in NHL history.

* The Kraken and Senators both erupted for eight goals in their respective wins Tuesday, with Seattle’s Brandon Montour netting a natural hat trick in the process. With every hat trick this season, AstraZeneca will donate $3,000 to the Hockey Fights Cancer Fund of the V Foundation up to $300,000.

* Longtime teammates Marc-Andre Fleury and Sidney Crosby stole the spotlight in what was expected to be the former’s final game at PPG Paints Arena. Serenaded by a standing ovation multiple times throughout the evening, Fleury capped the heartfelt night as the game’s first star.

OVECHKIN SHINES FOR CAPITALS, CONTINUES CHASE TOWARD THE GREAT ONE

Alex Ovechkin (2-0—2) helped the Capitals (6-2-0, 12 points) build a first-period lead against the Rangers (6-2-1, 13 points), the first meeting between the two clubs since the 2024 First Round, and did so with his first multi-goal outing of the season. His performance on ESPN moved the Capitals icon within 38 goals of breaking **Wayne** **Gretzky**’s all-time record (894).

* Ovechkin, who helped the Capitals produce their most wins through eight games of a season since their Presidents’ Trophy campaign in 2015-16 (6-2-0, 12 points), found the back of the net twice in a span of two minutes or fewer for the 14th time in his career and first since Dec. 7, 2022 (1:26).

KRAKEN, SENATORS SECURE WINS WITH EIGHT-GOAL ERUPTIONS

A pair of thrilling high-scoring games took center stage Tuesday as the Kraken (5-4-1, 11 points) and Senators (5-4-0, 10 points) both found the back of the net eight times to climb into Wild Card positions in their respective conferences.

* Brandon Montour (3-1—4) scored three of the Kraken’s eight goals – four of which came in a span of 10:33 to establish a franchise record – as they skated to victory against the Canadiens at Bell Centre. It marked Seattle’s sixth eight-goal game since entering the League in 2021-22, tied with Florida for the most among all teams over that span.

* Montour became just the eighth defenseman in the past 40 years to score a natural hat trick. He joined Al MacInnis (Oct. 12, 1998 & Dec. 11, 1996), Nikita Zadorov (April 12, 2023), Jared Spurgeon (Feb. 21, 2020), Justin Faulk (Feb. 13, 2018), Dustin Byfuglien (Nov. 30, 2007), Bryan Fogarty (Dec. 1, 1990) and Paul Reinhart (Nov. 24, 1986).

* Brady Tkachuk (2-0—2) scored twice and Tim Stützle (2-2—4) put on a four-point performance the Senators defeated the Blues and became the first team with multiple eight-goal showings this season. Tkachuk, who passed Mike Fisher to move into sixth on the franchise’s all-time goals list, and Stützle were two of three Ottawa players with multiple goals in the contest (also Adam Gaudette), giving the Senators nine multi-goal performances on the season – the most in the League.

* Stützle recorded the seventh four-point performance of his career and surpassed Marian Hossa (6) for the most by a Senators player age 24 or younger.

FLEURY BACKSTOPS WILD TO VICTORY IN HIS FINAL PIT STOP IN PITTSBURGH

It was only fitting Sidney Crosby (0-3—3) and Marc-Andre Fleury (26 saves) produced dueling performances in what is expected to be the latter’s final game at PPG Paints Arena – a venue in which he captured his 138th career win. Crosby suited up alongside Fleury for 720 regular-season games (409-236-75), the most among all teammates in the goaltender’s career.

* Fleury, treated with flowers upon arriving at the arena in honor of his nickname and treated to a standing ovation following a video tribute in the first period, was named the contest’s first star and welcomed an embrace from Crosby and **Kris Letang** following his final salute to the crowd.

* Crosby, who boosted his career totals to 2-5—7 in seven career games against Fleury, recorded his 180th career three-point game and moved within three of tying Phil Esposito and Mark Messier for the fifth-most in NHL history. His 64th career three-assist game tied Ray Bourque and Messier for the sixth most in NHL history.

MUST-SEE MOMENTS HIGHLIGHT #NHLSTATS: LIVE UPDATES

Notes were aplenty throughout a seven-game Tuesday. Click here for the latest edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates.

* The Bruins hosted their annual Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness night and entered the contest with a 16-0-4 record at home against the Flyers dating to March 17, 2012, but Samuel Ersson turned aside all 23 shots he faced and became just the third Flyers goaltender to post a shutout *in Boston*. He joined Antero Niittymaki (27 saves on Jan. 2, 2006) and Brian Boucher (21 saves on March 4, 2000).

* Another means to raise funds for Hockey Fight Cancer made its way across NHL social platforms Tuesday. Click here to watch a feature on Rangers captain Jacob Trouba and his ‘Body Check’ paintings – an instrument he uses to spread awareness of body checks as a crucial defensive tactic to help stay ahead of cancer.

* Jake Walman (1-2—3) lifted the Sharks to their second win in as many days and did so with a second consecutive three-point outing. He joined Erik Karlsson (2 GP from Jan. 7-8, 2019), Alex Pietrangelo (2 GP from March 17-18, 2018) and Kris Letang (2 GP from Feb. 11-12, 2012) as the fourth active defenseman to register three-plus points in consecutive days.

HUGHES BROTHERS GO HEAD-TO-HEAD ON SN1

After the three brothers graced the cover of EA Sports NHL 25 leading into the season, Quinn, Jack and Luke Hughes will all be on the ice together for the first time in 2024-25 when the Devils visit the Canucks to close out a doubleheader on SN1. Click here for an NHL.com feature on the brothers leading into tonight’s showdown.

* The only previous time all three brothers appeared in the same game, they all hit the score sheet in a 6-5 Devils win at Rogers Arena. Jack (1-2—3) and Luke (1-0—1) both scored for New Jersey, while Quinn (0-2—2) had a pair of assists for Vancouver.

* Jack (7-6—13 in 7 GP) has a 6-1-0 record in head-to-head games against Quinn, while averaging nearly two points per game in those contests (Quinn: 1-5-1; 0-5—5 in 7 GP). Luke (1-1—2 in 2 GP) has an even 1-1-0 mark when facing off against older brother Quinn.

WESTERN CONFERENCE FRONTRUNNERS ON TNT TONIGHT

The top two teams in the Pacific Division will go head-to-head exclusively on TNT, TruTV and Max when the Golden Knights (7-2-1, 15 points) visit the Kings (5-3-2, 12 points) at Crypto.com Arena. Los Angeles will look to keep its perfect home record intact (2-0-0), while high-scoring Vegas has scored five or more goals in a franchise-best four consecutive games and can become the first team since Ottawa (5 GP from Feb. 25 – March 4, 2023) to extend that run to five contests.

Re: It's a great day for hockey 2023-2024

Post by hockeygame3 » Thu Oct 31, 2024 9:11 am

* Kyle Connor celebrated the 500-point milestone and joined a short NHL list of U.S.-born players when he extended his home point streak to 10 games while skating in his home state.

* Nico Hischier scored his NHL-leading 10th goal of the season while Jack Hughes notched 1-1—2 to help the Devils earn a 6-0 win in the latest edition of the “Hughes Bowl.” Wednesday marked the sixth day this season that featured three or more teams score at least six goals, while 12 of the past 14 days have seen at least one club hit the mark.

* Anze Kopitar hit the 800-assist milestone and headlined a trio of NHL stars who shone with multi-point efforts Wednesday night.

* The and are both set to hold team practices Thursday at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland ahead of a pair of NHL Global Series games on Friday, Nov. 1 (2 p.m. ET on NHLN, SN) and Saturday, Nov. 2 (12 p.m. ET on NHLN, SN1). Click here for the 2024 NHL Global Series Finland Interactive Information Guide.

Connor EXTENDS STREAK AS FIRST-PLACE Jets improve to 9-1-0 on the season

Kyle Connor (9-8—17 in 10 GP) tallied three first-period points in his home state to extend his franchise-record season-opening point streak to 10 games and help the League-leading Jets improve to 9-1-0 (18 points), including a 5-0-0 record as visitors. Connor eclipsed the 500-point milestone and became the fourth U.S.-born player in NHL history with a 10-game season-opening scoring streak, following Kevin Stevens (13 GP in 1992-93), Pat LaFontaine (11 GP in 1992-93) and Darren Turcotte (11 GP in 1990-91).

* Scott Arniel became the sixth head coach in the past 50 years to record nine wins through his first 10 contests with a franchise. He joined Jim Montgomery with the 2022-23 Bruins, Patrick Roy with the 2013-14 Avalanche, John Paddock with the 2007-08 Senators, Mike Babcock with the 2005-06 Red Wings and Marc Crawford with the 1994-95 Nordiques.

HISCHIER LEADS DEVILS TO VICTORY IN LATEST EDITION OF “HUGHES BOWL”

Nico Hischier (1-2—3) scored his League-leading 10th goal of the season while Jacob Markstrom (20 saves) recorded his first shutout with New Jersey to help the Devils defeat the Canucks in the latest edition of the “Hughes Bowl.” Jack Hughes (1-1—2) boosted his career totals to 8-7—15 in eight career meetings against his brother, Quinn, while the Devils improved to 7-1-0 in those contests.

* Hischier hit the 10-goal mark in New Jersey’s 13th contest of the season. Only two players in franchise history have scored 10 goals in fewer team games to start a campaign: Paul Gardner (9 GP in 1977-78) and Pat Verbeek (10 GP in 1986-87 & 12 GP in 1987-88).

* Markstrom (34 years, 273 days) became the fourth-oldest goaltender to record their first shutout with the Devils/Rockies/Scouts, following Johan Hedberg (37 years, 201 days on Nov. 22, 2010), John Vanbiesbrouck (37 years, 200 days on March 23, 2001) and Glenn Resch (35 years, 160 days on Dec. 17, 1983).

STARS CONTINUE TO SHINE WITH MORE MULTI-POINT EFFORTS

Anze Kopitar (1-2—3), Nikita Kucherov (1-2—3) and Cale Makar (1-1—2) each put up multi-point efforts Wednesday to continue their strong starts to the 2024-25 campaign and achieve some notable feats:

* Kopitar factored on half of his club’s goals to help the Kings earn their third straight win at home to start 2024-25 and reach the 800-assist mark. The Kings captain, who already is the franchise assist leader, became the third active player to the milestone as he joined Sidney Crosby (1,013), Patrick Kane (818) and Evgeni Malkin (809).

* Kucherov recorded his 92nd career three-point game since his debut season in 2013-14, matching Leon Draisaitl for third most over that span behind only Connor McDavid (123) and Sidney Crosby (99).

* Makar, who celebrated his 26th birthday, extended his season-opening point streak to 11 games and joined Bobby Orr (15 GP in 1973-74) as the second defenseman in NHL history to post a run of that length.

MERZLIKINS CLIMBS FRANCHISE LIST IN #NHLSTATS: LIVE UPDATES

Elvis Merzlikins provided one of the many notes featured in Wednesday’s edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates after he made 26 saves to record his first shutout of the season as the Blue Jackets blanked the Islanders and improved to 5-3-1 (11 points).

FANS TREATED TO SEVEN-GAME SLATE ON HALLOWEEN

A clash between the Oilers (4-5-1, 9 points) and Predators (3-5-1, 7 points) on ESPN+ as well as the fourth week of NHL Coast to Coast on Prime Video Canada takes over the Halloween schedule. NHL Coast to Coast will feature special guests Senators captain Brady Tkachuk – who has found the score sheet in each of his team’s five home games this season, including 2-0—2 in their eight-goal outburst Tuesday – and defenseman Jake Sanderson.

* Ryan O’Reilly (2-5—7 in 6 GP) and Filip Forsberg (3-4—7 in 6 GP) have both found the score sheet in each of Nashville’s six home games to start 2024-25 and are one of three sets of teammates to achieve the feat to start the season (Alex Pietrangelo, Mark Stone & Jack Eichel: 7 GP w/ VGK as well as Nathan MacKinnon & Cale Makar: 7 GP w/ COL). Only one other pair of Predators teammates have posted simultaneous season-opening home point streaks of six contests: J-P Dumont (1-7—8 in 6 GP) and Shea Weber (4-6—10 in 6 GP) in 2008-09.

* Leon Draisaitl (6-4—10 in 10 GP) co-leads the NHL in game-winning goals with Kyle Connor and Nathan MacKinnon (both w/ 3), a total that includes a set of back-to-back winners on Oct. 25-27. He is one of four players in Oilers history with three game-winning goals through his first 10 games of a campaign – a feat he also accomplished in 2021-22 (4). The others: Petr Sykora (3 in 2006-07), Dean McAmmond (3 in 1996-97) and Jari Kurri (3 in 1986-87).

* The collection of contests will be an ideal setting for week four of NHL Coast to Coast on Prime Video Canada, the weekly Thursday whiparound show hosted by Andi Petrillo with a rotating group of analysts and guests starts at 7 p.m. ET. Jody Shelley and Jason Demers join the show this week, with only the latter owning head-to-head experience against either Tkachuk or Sanderson. Demers and the Coyotes defeated Tkachuk and the Senators in their only meeting on Oct. 19, 2019.

* The most goals scored by a player is four, shared between Kevin Dineen (4-1—5 on Oct. 31, 1993) and Wayne Gretzky (4-1—5 on Oct. 31, 1981).

* There have been 23 hat tricks, including one in each of the past two seasons: Elias Pettersson (3-0—3 on Oct. 31, 2023) and Tage Thompson (3-3—6 on Oct. 31, 2022). There is only one stretch in NHL history to feature at least one hat trick on three consecutive Halloweens (1971-72 – 1973-74).

* The most points by a player is shared by Tage Thompson (3-3—6 on Oct. 31, 2022), Wayne Gretzky (3-3—6 on Oct. 31, 1989) and Bobby Clarke (2-4—6 on Oct. 31, 1976).

* Patrick Kane (4-4—8 in 3 GP) and Gustav Nyquist (4-2—6 in 5 GP) share the most career goals by an active player.

NHL Morning Skate for Nov. 1

* Sidney Crosby scored two goals including the overtime winner while Alex Ovechkin hit the 10-point mark with a three-point effort as the pair of veterans treated fans to vintage performances on Halloween.

* The Hurricanes skated to an eight-goal outburst with help from three tallies in under a minute. The 2024-25 campaign has now seen the most eight-goal performances at this stage of a season in 18 years, with 1992-93 being the last to feature more.

* The 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal between the Panthers and Stars begins at 2 p.m. ET on NHL Network and Sportsnet. The contest will feature hometown hero Aleksander Barkov and could include seven players from Finland.

CROSBY, OVECHKIN TREAT FANS TO MULTI-POINT PERFORMANCES ON HALLOWEEN

Sidney Crosby (2-0—2) scored a pair of goals including the overtime winner to propel the Penguins to victory while Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin (1-2—3) notched his first three-point performance since Feb. 20 and is off to his best start to a season since his 90-point effort in 2021-22.

* Crosby tied the game in the third period and scored a highlight-reel overtime goal – the 22nd of his career, which is the second-most all-time behind Ovechkin (26) – to help Pittsburgh find the win column. The Penguins captain climbed into eighth on two all-time NHL lists as he passed Wayne Gretzky and tied Marcel Dionne (215) for go-ahead goals and broke a tie with Joe Sakic (473) on the multi-point games list.

* Ovechkin moved another step closer to tying Gretzky’s all-time goals record as he became the first Washington skater to post three points on Halloween since Peter Bondra (0-3—3) and Richard Zednik (3-0—3) on Oct. 31, 2000. In doing so, the Capitals captain boosted his season totals to 5-5—10 (9 GP) and hit the 10-point mark in fewer than 10 games for the first time since 2021-22 (5 GP), when he went on to tally 50-40—90 (77 GP).

HURRICANES ERUPT FOR EIGHT GOALS IN FIFTH SRAIGHT WIN

Andrei Svechnikov (2-1—3) and Martin Necas (1-3—4) led the way during Carolina’s eight-goal outburst as the pair each factored on the first of three tallies in a span of 52 seconds – the fastest three by a team this season – and helped the Hurricanes skate to a fifth straight victory, the League’s longest active winning streak.

* Necas (5-10—15 in 9 GP) tied the franchise benchmark for fewest games to 10 assists in a season and became the third player in Hurricanes/Whalers history with 15 points before his 10th game of a campaign, joining John Anderson (18 in 1985-86) and Eric Staal (15 in 2005-06).

* Carolina, which scored eight goals in a game for the first time since Nov. 11, 2019, became the sixth different team this season to net as many in a contest (7th instance overall). The last campaign to feature as many eight-goal outbursts at this stage of a season (166 GP) was 2006-07 (7), while the last to feature more was 1992-93 (14).

DRAISAITL CONTINUES STRONG PLAY AGAINST PREDATORS

Leon Draisaitl (2-1—3) boosted his career numbers against Nashville and helped the Oilers extend their point streak versus the Predators to nine games (7-0-2 dating to Oct. 27, 2018) – their second-longest active run against an opponent behind the Ducks (10 GP; 8-0-2 dating to Feb. 25, 2018).

* Draisaitl, who passed Glenn Anderson (92) for sole possession of the fifth-most three-point games in Oilers history, has collected 25-16—41 in his last 16 games against Nashville dating to Oct. 27, 2018. Through that span, he has posted three five-point games, a four-goal performance, a hat trick, nine three-plus point outings and 10 multi-goal contests.

SMITH’S FIRST TWO CAREER TALLIES FEATURED IN #NHLSTATS: LIVE UPDATES

The Halloween edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates saw teams and players provide plenty of treats, including Sharks rookie Will Smith, who notched his first two career goals and became the youngest U.S.-born skater to score for the franchise. The 19-year-old, who’s living with Patrick Marleau this season, also put his name next to the Sharks legend with his multi-goal performance.

FINNISH TALENT AT FOREFRONT TODAY IN TAMPERE

The 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal begins today at 2 p.m. ET on NHL Network and Sportsnet with the first of two back-to-back games at Nokia Arena in Tampere between the reigning Stanley Cup champion Panthers, captained by hometown hero Aleksander Barkov, and the Stars, who also boast a Finnish-born star at forward in Roope Hintz (Nokia, Finland), with three straight 30-goal campaigns to his name.

* Barkov and Hintz are two of seven players from Finland available for the game, along with Stars defensemen Miro Heiskanen (Espoo, Finland) and Esa Lindell (Vantaa, Finland), as well as a trio of Panthers skaters who contributed to their 2024 Stanley Cup championship in Anton Lundell (Espoo, Finland), Eetu Luostarinen (Siilinjarvi, Finland) and Niko Mikkola (Kiiminki, Finland).

* The Panthers and Stars have each had deep playoff runs in the two previous seasons, with Dallas falling in the Western Conference Final in 2023 and 2024, and Florida reaching the Stanley Cup Final in those two seasons while capturing the franchise’s first championship in 2024. They are both off to quick starts in 2024-25, with the Panthers (7-3-1, 15 points) sitting atop the Atlantic Division and the Stars (7-2-0, 14 points) boasting one of the League’s top points percentages early in the campaign.

* The two-game set on Friday and Saturday (12 p.m. ET on NHLN, SN1) will be the 10th and 11th NHL regular-season games played in Finland, the second most of any country outside North America behind Sweden (17). Tampere will host its third and fourth such contests to tie Tokyo (4) for the fourth most of any city outside North America. Nokia Arena will have hosted all four games in Tampere.

* Plenty of resources are available ahead of the 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal including: A list of all NHL Games Outside North America and all-time standings in those games via Records.NHL.com; an #NHLStats Pack that includes a more in-depth look at the history of games outside North America, features on star players from Finland and more; as well as the 2024 NHL Global Series Finland Interactive Information Guide.

* ICYMI: Hintz and Sam Reinhart donned a gold helmet at practice. In many European leagues, the top scorer on each team wears a golden dome to signify his place on the team. While Hintz (4-4—8 in 9 GP) is not the leading scorer for Dallas (Matt Duchene: 6-5—11 in 9 GP), he was given the honor to wear the special helmet by teammates as the hometown member of the Stars – Hintz grew up in a suburb of Tampere.

FIVE-GAME FRIDAY NIGHT CLOSES WITH DEVILS-FLAMES

After the Stars and Panthers complete their first of two games in Tampere, Friday night in North America includes a five-game slate with the League-leading Jets (9-1-0, 18 points) in action against the Blue Jackets (5-3-1, 11 points) and closes with Jack Hughes and the Devils (7-4-2, 16 points) continuing their Western Canadian swing against Nazem Kadri and the Flames nationally in Canada on Sportsnet One, Sportsnet West and TVA Sports.

* Four of the seven Finnish-born players to skate in the 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal found the score sheet Friday, including Aleksander Barkov who factored on four of his team’s six goals. It marked the third time in NHL history seven players participated in a regular-season game outside North America that took place in their birth country. Both teams are back in action Saturday (12 p.m. ET on SN1, NHLN, Victory+ & SCRIPPS).

* Nikolaj Ehlers (3-1—4) scored his fifth career hat trick in a 6-2 win as the Jets (10-1-0) continued their strong play to begin 2024-25 and became the first team to 10 wins. With every hat trick this season, AstraZeneca will donate $3,000 to the Hockey Fights Cancer Fund of the V Foundation up to $300,000.

* Stars will be on display during Hockey Night in Canada as the Maple Leafs, Canucks, Senators and Canadiens headline the slate and are four of 22 teams in action on an 11-game Saturday.

* The latest #NHLStats Pack highlights the top notes from October, which featured teams playing to 96% capacity crowds and scoring at its highest rate in nearly 30 years.

BARKOV SHINES IN FIRST OF TWO GAMES IN HOMETOWN FOR PANTHERS

Less than 24 hours after Matthew Tkachuk praised his captain’s presence among the fans in his hometown of Tampere, Aleksander Barkov (1-3—4) rose to the occasion and guided the Panthers (8-3-1) to victory in the NHL’s highest-scoring regular-season game played outside North America. Florida, which treated a sellout crowd of 12,786 to the fastest goal to begin an outing in that scenario, joined Colorado (6 at 2022 Global Series) as the second team to score six goals in a regular-season game contested outside North America.

* Barkov brought the crowd to its feet 7:11 into the contest and became the sixth European-born player to score in their hometown during a regular-season game contested outside North America. His first-period effort also watched the Tampere native join Mikko Rantanen (2-1—3 in P3 at 2022 Global Series) and Patrik Laine (1-1—2 in P2 at 2022 Global Series & 2-0—2 in P3 at 2018 Global Series) as the third Finnish-born player to post a multi-point period in a regular-season game played in his home country.

* The Panthers captain then capped his team’s offensive outburst with an assist on their sixth and final goal and joined Theo Fleury (3-2—5 at GAME ONe Japan '98), Nathan MacKinnon (0-4—4 on 2022 Global Series) and Mikko Rantanen (3-1—4 on 2022 Global Series) as the fourth player in NHL history to record four points in a regular-season game outside North America.

* Anton Lundell (Espoo, Finland) joined his fellow countryman and captain by scoring a goal at Nokia Arena – the second of three Finnish-born players to find the back of the net Friday (also: Esa Lindell, Vantaa, Finland). The trio combined to produce the second regular-season game outside North America to feature three players score a goal in their home country, following the 2009 Premiere Series in Stockholm, Sweden (Niklas Kronwall, Patrik Berglund & Tomas Holmstrom).

* Sam Reinhart (2-1—3) found the back of the net twice to become the first player in NHL history to record two multi-goal performances in games outside North America (. In the process, Reinhart (5-2—7 in 3 GP) also became second skater in League history to net five career goals in games played outside North America, joining Laine (5-1—6 in 4 GP).

* Aaron Ekblad assisted on three goals against the Stars and became the fifth player to record three or more assists in a single game played outside North America, joining Nathan MacKinnon (2x; most: 4 on 2022 Global Series), Cale Makar (2022 Global Series), Dustin Byfuglien (2018 Global Series) and Blake Wheeler (2018 Global Series).

MORE FROM 2024 NHL GLOBAL SERIES FINLAND

* Teppo Numminen (Tampere, Finland), who holds the NHL record for most games played by a Finnish-born defenseman, and Jere Lehtinen (Espoo, Finland), a Stanley Cup champion and three-time Selke Trophy winner with Dallas, joined Stars forward Roope Hintz (Nokia, Finland) and Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov (Tampere, Finland) for the ceremonial face-off ahead of the contest at Nokia Arena.

* The Panthers entered Nokia Arena sporting bathrobes ahead of their 2024 NHL Global Series Finland showdown against the Stars, paying homage to the host country’s famous sauna culture. Each player’s bathrobe featured the team’s logo and their jersey number.

* The 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal concludes today when the Panthers and Stars go head-to-head at 12 p.m. ET.

EHLERS SCORES HAT TRICK, LEADS JETS TO NHL-BEST 10TH WIN OF 2024-25

Nikolaj Ehlers (3-1—4) led the Jets to a hot start Friday when he recorded a hat trick through the first two periods of play before he and Kyle Connor (0-1—1) each factored on Winnipeg’s fifth and sixth goals of the game, respectively, to help the Jets improve to 10-1-0 and become the first team to 10 victories this season. The Jets became the League's first team to 10 wins in a season for the first time in franchise history and also set a club benchmark for fewest games to 10 victories in a campaign, eclipsing the previous mark of 15 contests set in 2022-23.

* Ehlers’ fifth career hat trick tied him with Connor for the fourth most in franchise history and also gave him the most in NHL history by a Danish-born player, passing Mikkel Boedker (4) who he previously shared the distinction with.

* Connor extended his point streak to 11 games and matched the second-longest run in franchise history. Only Patrik Laine (15 GP in 2017-18) has recorded a longer stretch.

KAPRIZOV’S HIGH-SCORING START CONTINUES IN WILD WIN

Kirill Kaprizov (2-1—3) extended his multi-point streak to seven games with his 35th career three-point outing – surpassing Mikko Koivu for the most in franchise history – and took lead of the NHL’s scoring race with 7-14—21 (10 GP). Kaprizov became the first player in Wild history to be the fastest to 20 points in a season as he helped Minnesota improve to 7-1-2 (16 points) – tied for its second-most points through 10 games of a campaign behind only 2006-07 (18 points; 9-1-0).

* Kaprizov became the first player in club history with a seven-game multi-point streak and the seventh active skater to achieve the feat following Steven Stamkos (9 GP in 2021-22), Connor McDavid (4x; longest: 8 GP in 2018-19), Mitch Marner (7 GP in 2021-22), Leon Draisaitl (7 GP in 2020-21), Auston Matthews (7 GP in 2018-19) and Nikita Kucherov (7 GP in 2018-19).

* The Minnesota forward also became the third active player with at least 21 points through 10 games of a season, joining Oilers duo Leon Draisaitl (23 in 2021-22 & 21 in 2022-23) and McDavid (22 in 2022-23 & 2021-22).

FRIDAY’S EDITION OF #NHLSTATS: LIVE UPDATES

Alexis Lafrenière tallied 1-1—2 to reach 80 NHL goals and help the Rangers (7-2-1, 15 points) establish the third time in the past 30 years the club hit 15 points in 10 games (also 2023-24: 8-2-0, 16 points & 2008-09: 7-2-1, 15 points). HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA HEADLINES SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT

The Maple Leafs (6-4-1, 13 points), Canucks (4-2-3, 11 points), Senators (5-4-0, 10 points) and Canadiens (4-6-1, 9 points) headline the Hockey Night in Canada schedule – four of 22 teams in action on an 11-game Saturday.

* John Tavares (5-6—11 in 10 GP) will enter Saturday with an active six-game point streak dating to Oct. 21 (3-6—9), a stretch that watched the 34-year-old score his fourth career hat trick in a Maple Leafs uniform. Only three Toronto players, age 34 or older, have posted a point streak of seven or more contests since 1986-87 (age at start of streak): Mats Sundin (4x; longest: 11 GP in 2005-06), Steve Thomas (10 GP in 1998-99) and Joe Thornton (7 GP in 2020-21).

* Canucks captain Quinn Hughes (45-296—341 in 374 GP) has recorded two four-assist outings in his career and will need a third to reach the 300-assist milestone on Hockey Night in Canada. Hughes is on pace to handily surpass the fewest games by an active defenseman to reach the benchmark, a distinction currently held by Erik Karlsson (502 GP).

* A showdown between Cole Caufield (10-1—11 in 11 GP) and Sidney Crosby (3-9—12 in 12 GP) underscores an encounter at PPG Paints Arena, with the 23-year-old Canadiens forward having benefited from a four-game goal streak to move into a tie for the NHL lead in goals (also Nico Hischier). Meanwhile, the Penguins captain is coming off back-to-back multi-point games en route to his 77th career month with at least a dozen points and 11th in the month of October – tied for the third most in NHL history, behind only Wayne Gretzky (15) and Joe Sakic (14).

* Kraken captain Jordan Eberle is no stranger to the spotlight of Hockey Night in Canada following his tenure with the Oilers to start his career from 2010-11 to 2016-17 – his regular-season totals on Saturday’s are 70-77—147 (214 GP). Both clubs skated to eight-goal wins this past week, with Seattle besting Montreal and Ottawa taking down St. Louis (both on 8-1 finals on Oct. 29).

* The Panthers left Tampere with back-to-back victories and the hometown stars continued to contribute, with the seven Finnish-born players combining for 12 points across the two games, as the 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal came to a close Saturday.

* Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin were back at it again Saturday as they both put up multi-point performances to help lead their respective clubs to victories, with the former climbing the NHL’s all-time go-ahead goals list and the latter continuing to chase the all-time goals record.

* Long-time rivalries take center stage during a seven-game Sunday as the Rangers and Islanders get things going at 1 p.m. ET (NHLN, SN) before the Oilers and Flames reignite the “Battle of Alberta” at 8 p.m. ET (SN).

REINHART, HOME COUNTRY HEROES HELP PANTHERS WIN A PAIR IN TAMPERE

After posting three points Friday, Sam Reinhart (1-1—2) added a second multi-point outing Saturday to lift the Panthers to back-to-back wins over the Stars in the finale of the 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal in front of a sold-out crowd of 12,807 at Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland.

* Reinhart, who has a history of shining overseas, boosted his career totals in regular-season games contested outside North America to 6-3—9 (4 GP). He leapfrogged Nathan MacKinnon (1-7—8 in 4 GP) for the most points overseas and surpassed Patrik Laine (5 G in 4 GP) for the most goals. Reinhart leaves Finland tied for the League lead in goals (10) and points (21) in 2024-25.

* Finnish hockey icon Jari Kurri, a five-time Stanley Cup champion and Hockey Hall of Fame member, was on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck. Earlier in the day, the NHL Alumni announced Kurri as the recipient of the second annual ‘Börje Salming Courage Award’.

* A total of seven Finnish-born players appeared in each of the two games in Tampere, which tied for the highest total from a host country in a game outside North America, joining the seven Swedish players who appeared for the Blues and Red Wings in back-to-back games in Stockholm during the 2009 Premiere Series.

* Florida’s first eight goals, and nine of its 10 overall across the two games, were factored on by a Finnish-born player with all four on the Panthers roster contributing at least one point in Tampere. It marked the first time that players from the host country factored on eight consecutive team goals in games contested outside of North America (one team; spanning games). In total, the seven Finnish players across the two teams combined for 3-9—12 over the two games, led by Tampere local Aleksander Barkov (1-4—5 including an assist Saturday), who appreciated the full circle moment in front of his hometown crowd.

CROSBY NETS ANOTHER MULTI-GOAL GAME IN PENGUINS VICTORY

Sidney Crosby scored two of his team’s three goals, including the game winner, and climbed a couple League lists as the Penguins defeated the Canadiens at PPG Paints Arena. He recorded his 93rd career game-winning goal with Pittsburgh and surpassed Mike Modano (92) for the seventh most with a single franchise in NHL history.png).

* Crosby, who became the first Penguins player to factor on seven consecutive team goals since Kris Letang did so nearly a decade ago (7 from Jan. 27-30, 2015), also scored his 115th career game-opening tally. He surpassed Jarome Iginla (114) for the seventh most in NHL history.

* Crosby and Letang factored on the same goal for the 305th time in their careers and surpassed Kings teammates Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty (304) for the third-highest total by a forward-defenseman duo in NHL history. The list is topped by Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey (350) as well as Phil Esposito and Bobby Orr (306).

OVECHKIN STAYS HOT AS CAPITALS SCORE SEVEN

Alex Ovechkin (1-2—3) extended his multi-point streak to three games and scored career goal No. 859 – 36 shy of passing Wayne Gretzky for the NHL's all-time record – as the Capitals (8-2-0, 16 points) skated to victory thanks to their first five-goal first period since March 3, 2008. Washington matched its franchise mark for wins through the first 10 games of a season (also 8-2-0 in 2015-16, 2011-12 & 1991-92) and set a new benchmark for goals through its first 10 contests with 44 (previous: 43 in 1991-92).

* Ovechkin posted back-to-back three-point games for the first time since Nov. 24-26, 2021 and has amassed 4-4—8 over that span. The last time he recorded as many points over a three-game span was Jan. 16-29, 2020 (7-1—8).

An 11-game Saturday featured plenty of notable performances from stars such as Senators captain Brady Tkachuk, Golden Knights captain Mark Stone as well as the Avalanche duo of Cale Makar and Nathan MacKinnon. Find notes on all 11 games in the latest edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates.

* Tkachuk scored one of three Ottawa goals and Anton Forsberg turned aside all 22 shots he faced to become the first goaltender with multiple shutouts this season as the Senators bested the Kraken at Canadian Tire Centre. Tkachuk notched his 92nd career home goal to tie Mike Fisher and Dany Heatley for fourth most in franchise history.

* Stone factored on Brett Howden’s overtime winner to boost his 2024-25 totals to 5-15—20 (12 GP) and become the fastest player in Golden Knights history to reach the 20-point mark in a season, besting Max Pacioretty (14 GP in 2021-22). Vegas improved to 8-0-0 at T-Mobile Arena and matched its longest home winning streak at any point in a campaign (also 8 GP in 2017-18).

* Makar (1-1—2) and MacKinnon (1-1—2) both hit the 20-point mark and extended their season-opening point streaks to 12 games. Makar (5-16—21 in 12 GP) became the fifth defenseman in the past 40 years to reach the 20-point mark in 12 games or fewer, joining Paul Coffey (10 GP in 1988-89), John Carlson (11 GP in 2019-20), Al MacInnis (12 GP in 1990-91) and Quinn Hughes (12 GP in 2023-24).

NHL Morning Skate for Nov. 4

* The Jets rallied from an 0-2 deficit to pick up their 11th win of the season and second via a multi-goal comeback – tied for the most in 2024-25.

* Martin Necas propelled the Hurricanes to their sixth straight victory – the NHL’s longest active run –and enters Monday with the second-highest point-per-game rate (min. 10 GP).

* Nico Hischier and the Devils continue their Western Canada road trip when they take on Leon Draisaitl and the Oilers on Prime Monday Night Hockey on Prime Video Canada as part of Monday’s two-game slate which also features the Kings visiting the Predators on TVA Sports.

EHLERS, CONNOR HELP JETS EARN MULTI-GOAL COMEBACK WIN, WITHSTAND RALLY

With the help of Nikolaj Ehlers (1-1—2) and Kyle Connor (0-1—1), the Jets overcame a 2-0 deficit and withstood multiple Lightning rallies Sunday, netting seven goals en route to their second multi-goal comeback win of the season – tied with the Blues, Predators and Golden Knights for the most among all teams in 2024-25.

* Ehlers, who surpassed Vyacheslav Kozlov (98 GP) for the sixth-most multi-point games in Jets/Thrashers history, boosted his career totals to 209-265—474 (617 GP). He passed Frans Nielsen (167-306—473 in 925 GP) for the most points in NHL history among Danish-born players.

* Connor (9-10—19 in 12 GP) extended his franchise-record season-opening point streak to 12 games and became just the second Jets/Thrashers player with a run of that length at any point in a campaign, joining Patrik Laine (15 GP from Feb. 16 to March 18, 2018).

HURRICANES EXTEND LEAGUE’S LONGEST ACTIVE WINNING STREAK TO SIX GAMES

Martin Necas added to his team-leading total by following up his four-point night with a 1-2—3 output and extended his point streak to six games, helping the Hurricanes win their sixth straight – the longest active run in the NHL and their lengthiest since Jan. 19 – Feb. 1, 2023 (7 GP). Carolina’s eight victories (8-2-0) are the second most in franchise history through its first 10 games of a season, behind 2021-22 (9-1-0).

* Necas improved his team-leading totals to 6-12—18 (10 GP). His 1.80 points per game is the second-highest rate in the NHL (min. 10 GP) behind only Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov (1.91 P/GP).

DRAISAITL, BEDARD PUT UP THREE-POINTS APIECE IN RESPECTIVE ROAD WINS

Leon Draisaitl (1-2—3) and Connor Bedard (0-3—3) each led the Oilers and Blackhawks to road victories Sunday thanks to three-point nights.

* Draisaitl recorded his second straight three-point outing to help the Oilers earn their seventh straight win against the Flames on the road dating back to the 2022 Second Round. Draisaitl scored 0:20 into the contest to mark the second consecutive game the Oilers have scored in the opening minute – the fifth time in franchise history they’ve accomplished that feat following Feb. 24-25, 2018, Nov. 14-17, 2000, Nov. 24-27, 1990 and Dec. 16-17, 1980 (all 2 GP).

* Bedard factored on three of four Blackhawks goals and became the first Chicago player this season to hit the 10-point mark (3-9—12). The 19-year-old registered his sixth career three-point game, passing Jonathan Toews and Jeremy Roenick (both w/ 5) for the second most by a Blackhawks teenager behind only Patrick Kane (10).

PANARIN, KREIDER, SWAYMAN SPOTLIGHTED IN #NHLSTATS LIVE UPDATES

The latest edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates featured several stars helping their teams to victories across the seven-game slate, including Rangers forwards Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider as well as Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman.

* Panarin found the back of the net twice and Kreider potted a goal as the Rangers defeated the rival Islanders to improve to 8-2-1 this season and jump into top spot in the Metropolitan Division standings. Panarin recorded his 221st career multi-point game, tied with Sidney Crosby for the fifth most since he entered League in 2015-16 behind Connor McDavid (303 GP), Leon Draisaitl (242 GP), Nathan MacKinnon (239 GP) and Nikita Kucherov (237 GP).

* Swayman turned aside all 23 shots he faced to help the Bruins earn their second shutout in as many days after Joonas Korpisalo blanked the Flyers on Saturday. Boston earned shutouts on consecutive days for the fourth time in the past 40 years, following Oct. 27-28, 2008, Oct. 17-18, 1997 and March 24-25, 1993.

Tonight’s two-game slate is highlighted by Nico Hischier and the Devils visiting Leon Draisaitl and the Oilers during the latest edition of Prime Monday Night Hockey on Prime Video Canada.

* Hischier (10-5—15 in 14 GP) shared the League lead with 10 goals through the first month of the season and remains tied for first. Hischier can become the fourth October goals leader (outright or tied) who went on to win the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy, following Connor McDavid (2022-23), David Pastrnak (2019-20) and Ilya Kovalchuk (2003-04).

* Draisaitl (9-7—16 in 12 GP) has six of his 16 points this season in two games without McDavid, who is expected to return to the Edmonton lineup later this month. Draisaitl (20-39—59 in 56 GP) averages over a point per contest in 56 career games without his longtime teammate since McDavid was selected by the Oilers with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

* Monday’s schedule also features two of the NHL’s highest-scoring active players with Steven

Stamkos and the Predators pitted against Anze Kopitar and the Kings at Bridgestone Arena.
