Wow!

Post by Warriors » Thu Feb 14, 2013 9:05 pm

This evening I'm uploading some tunes from the last band I was in (starting/trying to put another band together now) for a friend so I peeked in here while the files did their innerwebupstream thing....

Lots of talent on this board!
I haven't looked here in ages and so many vids etc. to check out...great stuff!
So, I may as well toss in some of my meager contributions to this wild world of music...a few originals from my last band.
I'm on guitar...mostly rhythm/noise...

Recorded live on my H-4...a couple tunes from a party...

H-4 live recording from a practice...

Hope you dig!

Dude- this stuff is quite good. I've got it open and playing on another page while I respond here.

It's obvious this group has rehearsed, yet is loose enuff to let it happen with some spontaneity.

The song in the middle was real good- kind of a Deep Purple (the organ is way cool) meets Santana vibe. The third one is my least favorite, even though the playing is quite competent. Have you ever heard of the English "space rock" group Gong? It reminds me of that- a bit too far out for my traditional tastes. Good recordings, too.

Warrior- in what geographic location are you forming a new group? And will you be playing "In the City", "No Place to Run", and/or "Warrior"? (There are probably several songs with that last title. I'm thinking of the one from Thin Lizzy)

really nice. `Listening to Electric Mushroom and I was grooving forgetting that I was checking out tunes from a .orger 8)

I'm about to practice now but I'll try to get back to you after I check out the others. Very cool sort of crescendo at the end of that tune :guitar

Thanks, so much for the compliments!!
Means a bunch considering the talent here...
I'm in Chicagoland...lol at the song suggestions!
Harmon...wanna play bass for us?

Heres a bit more to scope out...all from that same party recorded on my H-4.
This first one is our "remix/cover" of an original created by a friend of the lead guitarists which they used to play years ago. We kinda changed it up to our "sound" lol...

The next two files contain first an "intro" of improv/noise and then an original.
I have the seamless master but these files were on hand and more geared for the purpose why I joined soundcloud yesterday.

Let me get a bass and learn some stuff.

Bass is something I want to learn along with keys, banjo, dobro, mandolin and fiddle.

Just updated all the links above so they work again since my SoundCloud account changed. We just recently got the band back together after around a 5 year hiatus.
Its been fun loosely jamming and working on old/new originals. Only had the full band together a couple times so far...but were trying to get together weekly no matter who can make it so we can shake some of the rust off that has set onto us.
We tend to record everything for reference later for improvements/ideas etc.
A couple recent clips...

This one is just a snippet of some noise I thought sounded cool...

This next clip started out of tuning up and is a loose 12.5 minutes of loose jam/noise which then goes into a quick stab at an old tune Electric Mushroom.

Pix from practice last night...

Laser is a Scorpion Storm G and the multi is a Vue 6...both by Chauvet.
They're pretty fun for some space rock lol

Fun is what we are after!
Our drummer has been down due to shoulder and hand surgery since last month but the rest of us get together and practice yet...sometimes friends stop by that can play drums which can be amusing.
After putting together our mail order for Soldier Field last night we continued the fun when our friend Joe stopped by and was willing to play...heres 2 cuts of some of the racket we made...

right on man, thats cool as shit. Must be a blast coming over your house, a few of whatever gets you through the night, strap the guitar on, throw the lights on and take off. Was doing a little bit more research on teh chauvet lights and I think I'm gonna pick up a mini kinta for the next time some friends come over to "experiment"

Hey now...

We've still been jamming (around 12 originals now) and started a Mixlr page a bit back. If you've never heard of it...its a free internet broadcasting/listening app (used for all sorts of reasons) and it seems is getting popular by folks streaming live shows wirelessly at venues etc.
We broadcast live from practice once a week or so. I currently still use my Zoom H4 for mics for these jams...so that goes as an audio interface into a laptop were the audio gets pushed through the app and onto the interwebz. Working on starting to add audio from our mixer simultaneously as well live.

If you download the free app (on your phone or computer etc) and follow us, it will give you a notification for any channels you follow when they start broadcasting live. And you can broadcast too! So if any of you are already on there give us a follow and I'd surely like to check out your stuff too!

Here is a link to our "showreel" which is an archive of some of the broadcasts we've done. If you click on the title/date it has set info etc there.

Thanks! The other week I picked up a Zoom Q8 so I'll post the video of that first song below.
My H4 on the stand in the foreground is what is being used for mics which runs into the laptop on my bar for Mixlr broadcasts.
My buddys H4n also in view is being used for mics and mixer 4-track recordings.

Were going to practice and broadcast tonight somewhere around 7pm CST if anyone wants to tune in.

Long time since I been about here...just pokin' around.
So...we've been on hiatus again due to a injury to our bassist. We hope to get back to playing all together soon but for now here is an audio clip of a jam I dug from our last practice a couple months ago which I just cut out from the middle of Benny through the very beginning of Sparr (The Serpent of the Sea).

Good Stuff! I'm not usually a fan of double bass (unless it's Rush), but your drummer is pretty tasteful with it.
